Jumpy speedometer, but the speed sensor has been changed.
Hello guys,
I have a 1990 Honda Accord LX AT4. About 6 months ago, the speedometer and odometer stopped working and the sport S light was blinking fast with the check engine light on. I brought it to a mechanic specialize in transmission and he replaced with Honda original parts for $135 plus $30 labor. I picked the part up myself b/c he got me a discount for $135 instead of $165. That problem is fixed and everything is fine since. But about 2 months now, my speedometer has been jumpy. I would be going like 65MPH and reaching 70 and it would stay at 65MPH then all of sudden jump to 70MPH. I know it was suppose to be at 70 b/c the RMP reading would be 3000 when it reaches about 70MPH. As I slow down it would stick at 70MPH and drop all of a sudden below that 70 reading. This usually occurs at 65-70 and around 40-45MPH. I noticed that it occurs more when the weather is colder than normal and I live in southern California and it does not get that cold at all.
Please don't tell me that it's the speed sensor again. I thought buying a Honda OEM would last longer. Please give me any idea to see if it's something else.
Thanks.

I did a poor job of rewiring my VSS when I sheared the harness a few years back and it casused the same issue. Check all the wiring and connections. If it all checks out then I would replace the speedo.
