Im Swapping d16y8 with d16z6?

Icon6 Im Swapping d16y8 with d16z6?

i have a 2000 civic, i have in it the d16y8, i have blown that motor, i just bought the d16z6, i have took the intake manifold off the d16y8 the starter, the distributor wont fit, but i am using my friends?
I have encountered into a problem, i am not getting no spark from the distributor, i am getting fuel to the motor, and the motor keeps cranking but is not getting spark to crank it over and start the motor, did i miss something, forgot to take a part off my d16y8 i am not understanding why is this happening, can any one please help me out.

what dizzy are you using, how can you get spark if you said the dizzy won't fit? I'm confused

i am using my friends vtec distributor, perfect fit all three hole match up.

u need a obd2 to obd1 jumper harness for the dizzy and ecu

Or save yourself the money and just swap the guts from the Y8 distributor into the Z6 distributor housing. There is no OEM distributor that both bolts up and plugs in if anyone was wondering.

To the OP, did you make sure you connected the thermostat ground at the rear of the engine?

WHAT GROUND IS DAT I KNOW THERE IS 2, ONE OF THEM IS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CAR AND THE OTHER IS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR?

why am not getting spark from my distributor, i got the right dizzy and i know it works because i took it from my friends car, and the distributor dont give no spark from my car, what the hell is going on, i have checked all the fuses, my fuel pump goes on i can hear it, the car started for me a couple of times but i am having trouble for it to start every time, and right now i cant even to get it start 1 time because i aint getting the spark, pleasee help me

The engine harness itself has a ground, follow the lower rad hose back to the block, it ends at the thermostat housing, this is where the ground is.

u can use the y8 dizzy so u dont have to buy a conversion harness for it. just one bolt at the top lines up but it works fine.

or you can just swap your y8 head onto the z6 block so you can used your obd2 dizzy...make sure you get an aftermarket cam gear to retard the timing 4 degree
