Default throttle trouble...avc-r reading 0% throttle

i've been having a problem with my car jerking and surging back and forth and also a slight idle bounce. it started off as just a little annoying, the problem would disappear and reappear randomly, but now it does it almost all the time. so, i started to display my throttle response % on my avc-r to see if it was picking up any strange readings and sure enough the % stayed at 0% the whole time unless (and here's the weird part) i was in boost. even the slightest boost (00.01) would cause the problem to stop and the throttle % would start to increase from 0% until i dropped out of boost then the jerking and surging come back.

my check engine light is always on because of a missing O2 sensor but it stays solid and doesn't blink so i'm not sure that it's picking up anything. does anyone know what might be causing this problem?? i'm thinking it's the TPS but could it maybe be related to the missing link?? and if it is the TPS, does anyone know how i can get a new one without having to purchase a new throttlebody??

Sounds to me like you screwed up the wiring or something. Go back to your ECU with the wiring diagram from Apex'i and recheck each wire, well particularly the throttle and pressure wires and ensure they are hooked up right with a solid connection.

i really don't think that's the problem. even if i did wire up the avc-r wrong, i'm sure it wouldn't cause any problems to the engine.

yes it would, any sort of miswiring, and your engine is confussed on what to do, getting wrong signals and so forth...i did the same thing w/ the VAFC on my buddies car....his car would barely start because i crossed the pressure wires....recheck the wiring...it's your wiring.

98civicex is right on. If you have even one wire incorrectly placed it can cause your engine to run like crap.

also, i dont' know if this would cause a problem. But you didn't just twist the wires and use electric tape did you. I know that's how the first shop did my vafc and no matter what i did to the fuel curve, nothing would change because they didn't soder(spelling) the wires. Make sure they are all connected and soder them if you can.

i unplugged my avc-r and i think the problem has disappeared. i'm relieved that it's over but i still can't believe that it was my boost controller the whole time
