engine swap poll
i will be coming into some money in october (alaska PFD) so i want to buy a motor and i have narrowed it down to 2 motors 1. B16a from the Sir II i like it because it dohc and its a pretty strait drop in being its my first swap. 2. the JDM D15b i like this one for the Price with the money i would have left over i could build it up a little, and still a strait drop in. opinions would be great. i would like a good DD with the option to boost at a later time, i will also be switching from an auto to manual at this time as well while the motor is out much easier i would think.

Spend a few extra dollars and go with a B18C...the performance increase is worth the money IMO. If I had to pick one, I'd go with the B16, as the jdm D15 is basically a destroked D16Z6...
D16Z6 mine blows the doors off D15B's all day and a SIRII B16 is a guttless motor anyway you could have way more fun and keep it cheap with the Z6 hell you could boost it cheaper than a whole b-swap and then blow the b-series N/A guys doors off lol
Your starting ground is very important. A b16 is a huge improvement over the d. People debate this, but I think a d15b is VERY overrate. I don't understand why people consider it an option when an ls or b16 can be had for the same $$.

*shrugs shoulders in disbelieve*....pick what YOU want not what everyone else wants you to have...ok let me check another one off so thats.....like a thousand motor swap polls that i've seen since i've been here...oh well another one down and a million more to go lol
I would say neither. Just get a Ls. Theyre cheaper and have way more torque. My friend just swapped in an Ls and he loves it. He also plans on boosting it in the future and Ls turbos are beasts!
B16 is a great motor to start with, I had one and loved it..........until I bought my B18c. My buddy ran a D15b with JRSC and slicks and could only get low 14's out of it......I ran 15.0 with full interior EK coupe, bone stock B16a and 2.3 60 ft.......so B16 all the way for the money.
wow as far as a budget i will be working with about 3000-3500 with the dividends so i think i will go with the b16a B18c is a little more then i want to spend on a motor, how is the B16a on boosting?
Know a guy that ran 15psi on stock internals and good tune for about a year and a half, but he doesn't dog his car too often. I bet with 8-10psi you'd be good to go.
well i was thinking of when i got the motor i was going to rip it apart and replace the rods, pistons and the hardware to ARP all new gaskets just so i know they are new so i wont have stock internals
B16A SiR II all the way... Been there... Swapped it... now I Love it.
Got mine thru HMO. If you are doing the swap yourself, or with one of ur buddies then you should still have some money left over. If a shop is doing the work just dont let them rape you.

If you have 3 to 3.5 grand you could find a decent b18c for that... but if your not wanting to use all of it, an LS swap over the other two, you can get an LS swap for $900-1500. But if it just between your two choices, go with the B16 man.
