Can I use this for oil pressure / what is this bolt?
Hey, I was hoping some of you can let me identify this thing....... but you have to read the whole story.
Car is 1990 CRX Si with a bored and stroked ITR engine. JRSC and LHT intercooler, in a nutshell..... no F'ing room to work on the engine!! So I'm trying to remove the oil pressure switch on the block so I can insert a line that runs to the firewall and I can mount my gauge switches. Easy enough, but there is no way I can get to the pressure switch anymore. It's pinned next to the ITR oil cooler, the JRSC, and the alternator (the alt is relocated because of the JRSC). No joke I spent about an hour, there's no chance of me reaching it while the engine is in the car.
So with that said, is there another place to mount a pick-up for the oil pressure? I came across this small bolt with a 10mm head on it right next to the VTEC oil pressure switch. The bolt is on the front of the head with a sealing washer on it. When I removed it I can see oil behind the bolt. Is this port under oil pressure? If so why can't we use this to pick up oil pressure and temperature??
It's in the photo below with a blue circle around it. Please let me know if any of you guys know what this is or if I can use it for oil pressure.

i dont think that has full pressure all the time, just when in VTEC. dont really remember, but not a good spot.
use the bigger one at the back of the head, that people normally use for the LSVTEC, that should have good pressure all the time. plus it will be closer to the firewall, be cleaner for you.

I'm 99% sure that's where the oil comes up from the pump to the Vtec solenoid. That is the port that gets plugged (at the block/head interface) when doing an LS/Vtec conversion so you can run the oil feed line on the back of the block to the head.
Oil does come to that hole...I know this because I forgot to put the plug back in when tuning once and oil started pouring out until I caught it real quick. However, I'm not sure you will get real accurate pressure readings. I'd just make a oil block coming off the stock sensor on the back of the block..but do NOT use those T's that companies sell, the weight will eventually strip the aluminum threading. Get NPT and AN fittings and a -3 an line to run to a oil block you mount somewhere else...
