96 Accord Keeps reving up and down at high RPM's
hey there
i just bought a 96 accord 25th anniversary edition. the car has a rebuilt motor in june of 2008 so i know it cant be the motor. but reccently i have been having a problem that after i drive it the engine starts to rev up and down.when i start the car up it idles at 1200-1400 rpms and when i put it in park or neutral it goes up to like 1900 and starts going up and down between 900-2100. i was told it could be my iacv. i also have a radiator problem where my overflow tank is completely empty even after i fill it up. does anybody have any ideas on what it could be??
and no i dont have a radiator leak because i have a brick driveway and i would have seen it on the floor with all this cold weather and dry brick.

first off... you've posted this in the civic forum.. try reposting in the accord forum

i would be very skeptical of a rebuilt honda engine. usually it's cheaper and more reliable to get a low-mileage used motor, than to rebuild.
i think your issue is related to a vacuum leak in the intake system. the iacv is basically a controlled vacuum leak so if it sticks it could cause similar problems, but there is more oppertunity for a vacuum leak to show up around one of the gaskets, or vacuum hoses.

yeah i realized that after i posted ..sry lol
but yeah thats what i was thinking..i know my iacv is not shot cause when i first turn on the car it idles but not at low rpms ..probally needs to be cleaned??
