ecu opinions needed
i have an obd0 b18a ls swap in my ef hatch. I was wondering if i want to keep my ls non-vtec for now would there really be any point in coverting to obd1 to run a chipped ecu or will obd0 be just as good with a chipped pr4?
I think it depends... what mods do you have that require a chipped ECU in the first place?
OBD1 is always a better choice for the ECU programming/tuning capabilities. You also get the benefit of the heated O2 sensor supposedly more stable stable and is supposedly longer lasting too.
If you have a stock B18 with simple bolt-ons then IMO you don't even need to be chipping it.
No sense in going OBD1 at that point unless the OBD1 ECU map is somehow magically squeezing hp out of someplace.

shaved, ported and polished ls head with port matched tb and intake mani. 3 angle valve job and smoothed combustion chamber. Accel ignition, 10.3mm plug wires. header, cai, and full exhaust with test pipe.
I vote obd1, and i reference the difference between the b18a1 and the b18b1. There is ten horsepower that alot of people credit to the cams, but as you look at (almost) any make of car, the newer generation gets a little more powerful. Although I think this is in part to do with the fuel mapping, if your chipping the pr4 you can do even better maps. Obd1 imo is easier to tune on.
