Default Exhaust System

Looking into getting an exhaust system, since my stock is trash and in some parts welded with cheap muffler shop pipes...looking for suggestions.

Currently looking into the flowmaster since its only about $220, but alittle skeptical about the fact that its $100+ less than the skunk2s, magnaflows, etc. So is there a big difference in air flow or quality?

Also I have an apexi muffler on it currently...would it be best to keep that muffler and simply weld the piping Im going to buy to it or go ahead and use the muffler that comes with the exhaust system?Cause apexis are pretty pricey from what Ive noticed, much more so than skunk2 or flowmaster mufflers.

I gather that most members here recommend the Apexi WS2 cat back system for excellent sound. Is your current Apexi the WS2? If so, maybe you should try and locate the rest of that system.

Not really sure, if the muffler is the WS2...I'll try to take some pics of it later on. And that apexi system is $400+, is the difference between it and a flowmaster that great? Honestly sound isnt a top priority although I dont want that rice whine, as long as quality of the piping and air flow is pretty good and the sound isnt outrageously ricey I'd take the flowmaster.

Also Im assuming ditching the flowmaster muffler that comes with the catback, and keeping my apexi muffler would be best right?

+1 this is a really quiet system and gives you the response when you want it.

Allright Im not very familiar with the apexi catbacks, but I looked through some pics of them yesterday...I assumed the exhaust I currently have on my catback was stock but after looking at the apexi pics it looks very similar to those. Even has that redish/bronzish color. Who knows though maybe Im totally off and the stock one looks exactly like the apexi ones?

So does the apexi catbacks have a label somewhere to distinguish them? I couldnt really find anything other than on the muffler.

Theyre shitty *** cell phone pics, and the sun's reflection made the pics that much worse but here's what I have:

On the last one, the part where the catback connects to the O2 sensor is replaced with a cheap muffler shop pipe. Managed to call-up the previous owner and get that part back since I plan on putting the 02 sensor back on:

Well the muffler itself says Apexi on it so I wasnt really questioning wether it was apexi or not I was moreseo asking about the rest of the system. You can sort of see the apexi label on the first pic and the other one is the entire muffler (again cell phone so not great quality plus it was night):

I wanted a new catback and to keep my muffler, since apparently apexis mufflers are the best out there according to alot of people and going by their retail price.

Thats when I was sure that my exhausts were stock though, after looking at pics of entire apexi catbacks I noticed that their exhausts look similar to the ones I currently have...which is why Im asking if the exhaust would have an apexi label on them somewhere similar to the one the muffler has? Or if going by the pics anyone can tell if theyre apexi or stockers?

Thanks for your help by the way.

Do the exhausts look stock to you? Honestly this is my first Honda and Ive never seen a civic's stock exhaust system to compare to.

How can you tell?

And just wondering do you have an apexi system, if so were is the apexi label on the exhausts if any? Also were can I get the missing bolt that connects the catback to the 02 sensor? Im pretty sure that cheap muffler shop pipe in its place is why it sounds so horrible Im planning on welding the original part back on.

actually, after looking at it a couple more times, its got me thinking.

looks like you dont have a cat.

do you have a friend that has a digital camera?

next time, jack up the car, put two jack stands up front and take a pic from the front view.

i know the muffler is the N1.

but dunno bout piping, if its stock or apex piping.

also, what year is your civic? 2 door? 4 door?

Its a 97' coupe, I'll see when I can get a some digital camera pics since Ive been busy looking for parts for my turbo setup...plus my car is slammed so I need a ramp to be able to fit a jack underneath and dont really have one on hand.
