Default cant use racing seatbelts.

i bought the sparco harness bar.so i cut off my stock seatbelts.then i heard that its illegal to use the racing seatbelts on the streets and its only meant for racing. why is it that i have to use stock seatbelts instead of the racing seatbelts when those are safer then the stock seat belts?

Haha. Sorry, I thought u cutting off your old belts was prety funny.

DOT usually sees what is stock as what is best; especially something as safety-important as seatbelts.

because if you're dumb enough to cut your stock seat belt, you're probably too dumb to install the harness correctly which will result in your spine being crushed in the event of an accident

Apparently scissors are more affordable than a 17mm socket.

A full race harness can also be more dangerous in the event of a roll-over accident if a roll cage is not installed. Stock belts allow for sideways motion to move the head away from a roof crush.

Cutting the stock belts was not a good choice.

What's the point of having a racing harness if you don't race?

You will have worse "protection" if you don't have a roll cage.
If you run racing harnesses without a roll cage, your roof can crush in the event of a rollover and snap your ****ing neck. So if you want to die or become a parapalegic(sp?) be my guest.

so where is this that the racing harness's are illegal? i know we don't have too many laws here regarding things of that nature, but i have sparco 4 points in my integra and i've been pulled over and never been said anything to about it. Oh and dude, don't tell us now that you actually took the time and removed the belts, it was alot more fun believing you actually cut them off, ha ha

Sadly, that is because the law requires a single push button release for the belts, making all cam-lock belts illegal to use on public roads.

The Schroth 4 point belts that have DOT certification use a single red push button release.

A race harness is not a fashion accessory. It's not there to make you look cool. It's there to hold you firmly in your seats on the track. If you dont track your car, then you dont need them - simple as that.

If any of you guys do not have rollover protection, you have made your car even more of a potential death trap than cars already are by driving on public streets around stupid drivers.

Don't be stupid. Wear proper seat belts that allow movement in the event the car rolls over on the roof. And DO NOT EVER think "oh it'll never happen to me". That is the most short-sighted, potentially deadly thought any driver could ever have. Things can happen without warning. I actually witnessed a car get rolled over on its roof on a relatively low-speed crowded downtown city street. This stuff can and does happen any day, every day, at any time.
