Default Does my 2000 Civic EX have ABS? And a transmission question.

I've searched google and honda-tech and was curious as to if my 2000 Civic EX has Anti-Lock Breaks. I thought that 2000 was the only year with the EX trim that ABS came as standard equipment, but read otherwise and have found that maybe it was an option? I'm not sure how legitimate this statement is as it was from another forum, though. Also, I read that if you turn your key to accessory power then a yellow ABS lamp will glow, however in my Civic it does not. The reason I ask is because I am doing a rear disc conversion and I ordered "ABS" Brembo Blanks. However you were to specify whether or not your car had ABS or not, I assume this is no problem because any 9.4'' rotor could be used, whether it was from an Integra or Civic.

My second question might be a stupid one: Is anyone else not able to downshift into 1st gear until you've literally came to a complete stop? I figured it was to keep from mis-shifting and over revving but dang, I'm not going to be over revving going a couple MPH.

http://www.sportcompacttuning.com/stoppie.mpg

you arent supposed to get into first w/o being at a stop but it is possible. or at the least a very slow roll.

That's what I assumed, but you know when you're at like 3 MPH and putting around in 2nd gear causes a lot of vibration and going into 1st would only put you at 3,000 RPMs at the MOST.

Any input on the ABS, though?

Oh, poor Integra.

The following are all the US trims available.

1996-2000 2DR DX
1996-2000 2DR EX
1996-2000 2DR EX ABS
1996-2000 2DR HX
1999-2000 2DR Si
1996-2000 3DR CX
1996-2000 3DR DX
1996-2000 4DR DX
1999-2000 4DR DX-V
1996-2000 4DR EX
1998-2000 4DR GX
1998-2000 4DR GX ABS
1996, 1998-2000 4DR LX
1996-2000 4DR LX ABS
1996-1997 4DR LX FACTORY A/C

For no year did any trim come standard with ABS.

Give me your VIN (through PM) and I'll tell you which one it is. I have the catalog that will tell me what your car is.

If I really want to, I can shift into first while still at a very, very slow roll. You have to be going pretty slow though. It's not even worth it. Just put it in neutral and brake to a stop.

I don't really see how this answers his question. But in regards to the rear disc brake conversion, ABS won't make a difference with the rotors. Its the same part number for ABS and non-abs brake rotors.

He wants to know if his car has ABS. I told him it's not standard for 2000 (as he had heard). Then I said I could tell him which his car is, an EX or an EX ABS.

you cant miss a abs in your engine bay. has orange plugs. by the starter and battery. the only ek ive seen with abs came from canada. dont believe us ever got a civic ek with abs. or you can pull your lower rear seats and youll see a orange plug not connected to anything. thats were abs is supposed to hook up too. hope that helps.

well the easiest way is to wait for a rainy day and find a nice empty road and stomp on the brakes at about 30mph, thats the easiest way to find out lol...

My car also does not have the ABS light, but I will PM you my VIN sometime over the weekend if I can find time from the junkyard that hopefully holds my calipers and work.

Thanks to the answer on the rotors, though. I figured they were all the same, seeing as they're all 9.4''!

Thanks for answering guys!
