Default Timing Belt Changed - Check Engine Light

Yesterday, i got my timing belt changed with the water pump. Today, i was driving and all of a sudden, the CEL turned on. Any ideas why? I did however, feel an increase of my car's acceleration. Maybe the timing belt is too tight? Help!

Maybe you should check it with a code reader and see what code its throwing.

Ok, so i went to get it check and the code was PO420. I looked it up and it mentions that i might need a new o2 senor or a new cat. Weird that it wasn't there before I replaced my timing belt so maybe the Cat is OK. Any opinions?

reset the ecu (disconnect the battery) then see if it comes back on, sometimes it just needs a reset.

Cat is not doing its job, you need a new one. Its just a emissions thing, dont think its killing any hp. Cant get it inspected like that though unless your in the straight boondocks
