Skunk2 Pro-C Rear Lowering Issue
So at first I thought the rear lowering issue on my setup was just normal. The fact that it doesn't go anywhere near as low as the front does....barely enough to get the tires slightly tucked under the fender.
Then I caught wind of this thread on 8thcivic.com.
http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/intro...2-pro-s-2.html
Scroll to the bottom of page 2 and he shows his drop setup with the Skunk2 Pro-S which basically has the same rear spring perch setup as the pro-C.....only his drop seems to look ALOT lower than mine in the rear....and I have my rear as low as it will go on the rings.
So I want to know exactly how this guy managed to pull this off? Did I miss something. Stock conical bushing has been removed and all Skunk2 pieces have been installed and they are the CORRECT pieces as well.
Is his lower-looking drop just a result of too much negative camber or is it something else? Am I just being paranoid cause I did notice that my car didn't look as low once I brought out my camber which was over 2 degrees in the negative.
I called Skunk and they said lowering the rear shocks have absolutely nothing to do with lowering the vehicle ride height so I'm assuming it couldn't be that.
IF anyone knows what's up let me know. And NO ajpturbopittsburgh I will not sell it and get a turbo kit so don't bother mentioning it.

Can you post a picture of your car for a side by side comparison?
Also, what are the specs on your tires. If I remember your tires looked kind of beefy. Were they 225/45s? This other civic looks like they're 215/45.

hahaha i love that last little comment!!
i think the wider tires will make it look lower wouldnt it?? since more of the tire can be tucked? cuz i know on my 225's my front wheels are tucked as to my friend who has 215's are almost flush.

I know it's a little hard to see in my pic cause of the shadows, so I drew in the red circle to show where the top of the tire is in relation to the fender.

not necessarily. if he has a smaller wheel and a taller tire, it should be about the same diameter as your wheel. cuz my friend had 16's as i had my stock rims and tire size and they were the same size, the difference was that i had more rim and less tire and he had more tire and less rim.

i don't think skunk2 sells optional springs for their coilover systems.
i was figuring that maybe rico hasn't put that many miles on them which is why they aren't as low as they should be? or maybe that guy on 8th made a mistake on his post about which coilover he has?

Since were kinda on the subject, how easy is it to install say the HFP Suspension kit? And are there any specialized tools needed to do it? Im thinking about dropping my car around an inch, and was wondering how hard it would really be to actually do.
rear camber issue.
Nice rico. The HFP is nice and the install was very straight forward. I also add the Eiback sway bars and the setup is great I think. I did it myself and had no problems. I asked a shop to do an alignment because I wasn't sure it I would need one or not and my local honda dealer wouldn't or couldn't tell me whether or not I would need one. But the said the front was ok but the back was out a little. It was the same shop that installed my oxygen greedy turbo. Uh oh, did I do it again.
Not too difficult, my friend and I are installing right now. The pdf for the install is readily available online and it outlines what tools you'll need. The fronts were in and out in 45 minutes. The rears take a little longer. But overall I like the kit.
It looks like the other guy has 16" wheels, so that could be contributing to the look. Also, the other car is not an Si. Perhaps the Skunk2 kit is a little different for the non Si civics?
On an unrelated note....I didn't realize that any of the new gen civics can with rear drums. It looks like rear drums are on the other car.

And Skunk2 does not distinguish seperate kits for the base models and Si civics. The one kit fits them all.
aight thanks. now i just needa decide if i should try and drop the money and tackle it myself lol. can you link me to the install directions? or is it on the honda website?
Again this goes back to overall tire diameter. If the smaller wheel created a smaller tire diameter then....if anything....he should have MORE fender gap and look LESS tucked. I highly doubt his overall tire diameter is larger than mine.

Actually speaking physics, if the rear is raised, then more of the car's weight is distributed to the rear. this is why spring kits lower the front more than the rear. the coilovers were probably designed that way but dont qoute me on that. just be sure that it is not too much of a difference. I also hear the the S2 coilover series is are not that good any way. one more thing, a smaller diameter wheel will sit the car hieght lower, but the gap between tire and well will be larger. It is such a small difference though you may not notice.
not necessarily. i stated before that a 16 inch wheel with a 50 series is a tall as a 17 inch with a 45 series. the only difference between the 2 is that there is more rim on the 17 and more rubber on the 16
