Sorry if this is the wrong place to put this in but i was wondering if u guys would be able to tell me, whats going to happen after i put 89 octane in my jdm 96 spec type r? ive always put 94 (i live in canada) ever since i did the swap but by accident tonite, i ended up putting 89 becuase of some stupid old gas station. Anyways anythign i should be worried about? Like ive said again, sorry if this is the wrong forum.
This happened to me once when someone put 89 in my 11.6:1 CR GSR, and I just took it real easy until I could get 93 back in it. No WOT pulls, haha. Just baby it and you should be ok...

thank you.. i hope my motor will be okay. I filled it to half and thats when i realized i put 89. Should i fill the rest with 94? or should i just drain out the 89 and wait later to put 94?
You should be fine. If you want to fill it up the rest of the way with 94 and baby the car until you're almost out of gas and then go refill it with 94.

I have had a bad experience with high compression (12.2:1) and low octane fuel. If I did that I would go in my garage and top off with some C16.

I have used 89octane on a long trip, I got the same mpg...
When gas was near $5.00 I was using 89 to save some money.
just use your head if you hear any knocking and back off the gas.
Not a big deal.

I did that once on the way home from the beach. just babied it and I was in 90 degree weather. if you want throw some race gas in to top it off. see if a sunoco around you have race gas and use that to top it off
Like someone said, just go buy a bottle of octane booster and put it in the tank. Top it off with 94 and you should be fine.

the itr runs perfectly on cheap gas, it's just less perfomant. In quebec, Premium is 91 octane and thats what i use in my itr, so 89, is mid grade here, if u top it off with 94, you end up around 91 like me, which is safe and you have nothing to worry about, if u wanna use octane booster, then don't bother putting 94 in it, just fill it up with regular fuel and use the booster to raise the whole tank, you'll be around 97 octane on regular fuel with a 8pts booster... if u got money to burn use premium and booster, but i would just ride it out, and fill it in with premium next time.
