buying the oem hid headlights and then throwing out the oem hid and putting aftermarket hid in sounds kinda like a waste of money. why not just put aftermarket hid in the normal black housings and save like almost a 1000 dollars. the oem hid lights are way more expensive and on top of that you paid for another hid kit. you didn't like the oem hid??? i love mine besides it blinding people

To answer your question...not that I dont' like OEM HIDs...but the whole kit will run me around $1700 (which is already a decent price)...I got the housings for just $7xx plus $4xx on the HIDs...that's like $1100 total and everything is new.

Yes I could've just use the OEM NON-HID hosuing, but it wont look as nice. After all, the HID housing is design differnt on the housing itself to make the light output better. If I use NON-HID houisng, it wont' look as nice. And besidez, the price difference was only $100 for me.

The difference between OEM HID and aftermarket HID is that OEM fits perfect..you mount the ballast to the housing whereas the aftermarket HID, you have to fine a place to mount it (which is not that big of a deal). Another thing, OEM HID is "legal" but since we dont' have JDM ITR here in us, its still ILLEGAL, so I decide to get the bosch made ballast, which is standard for BMW E46 with the new D2S bulbs made by McColloch that has higher temp but at the same time manage to keep the 3200 lumens output. So yeah, I think is worth it.

However, if I have the time to wait for a USED HID kit...I will because its cheaper...but I didn't, so I have to buy everything "NEW"....
