Default Suggestions on a Mid-Lvl Sound System?

I drive a 2004 civic LX coupe and i think its about time i upgrade my speakers and maybe an 8 inch subwoofer.

Currently have a alpine 9835 HU and the rest is stock. What would you guys recommend for speakers and maybe a small Subwoofer. If i can get my car to sound like a Lexus IS350 sound system that would be awesome.

Nothing too fancy just clean sound and clean bass. Trying to keep it at a reasonable price.

500.00 or less.

I listen to alot of hip/hop/rap, r&b and ocassoinally trance/techno and some Rock.

alpine speakers all the way, or infinity
but for a good sub and amp there goes the 500.
are you looking to amp the inside speaker or keep them on deck power?

I would suggest adding a sub first. Infinity makes nice speakers.
Anyway, listen to it after you put the sub in and then decide if you want speakers. After the source, the sub makes the next biggest difference. It puts out a third of the frequencies you otherwise wouldn't hear out of other speakers.

bummer. I just purchased the alpine type r components and alpine pdx 4.100 off ebay with a 10% discount.

What would you recommend for a deep bass subwoofer? i want something small, maybe just one 8 inch or one 10 inch subwoofer to give me that thump.

alpine all around.
do a db sub or even an orion.
or you can do a trend and stick with all alpine deck, sub, deck. had that set up on my integra. type s speakers, alpine deck, 12" type s sub.

Something small is not going to give you a "deep" thump. Since you listen to rap you could get a 12 in a sealed box. The box is what makes the most difference. I would stay away from an 8 (because of the type of music you listen to). A 10 in a ported box is kind of like a 12 in a sealed, although the 12 will provide more rumble and most likely take up less space due to the box. Ported boxes are generally larger. You might go into a shop and listen to a 12 and a 10 and see which one you like better.

What ebay store did you buy from? I'm thinking about replacing the head unit and 6x9's in my wagon, and possibly adding a 4-channel amp.
