Default Need help/Advice with B18 swap

I have a 1997 civic and a 98 integra. Im taking the b18b out of the integra and putting it into the civic.. Also the civic is auto which im converting to stick..

So far i know i need 99-00 si rear motor mount. I have the ecu, shift linkage etc. Will this wiring from the SOHC still work for the b18? This is my first honda project so any advice will help.

look at both ecus... see if they have the same plugss
then look at both wiring harnesses and see if they have the same plugs

should have 4 plugs coming from each motor
3 going to the ecu
1 green going to the car harness

you should've kept the harness on the motors... you could of unbolted from the fire wall pulled right out and draped over the motor

then once dropped the other motor back in

simply run plugs right back down through the fire wall

on the integra on the passenger side of the motor, there are plugs that come off the motor, i think 3 or 4.. on the civic, its one complete harness going into the passenger firewall.. i had to take all the wiring off the motor on the civic which on the integra i just unplugged it

you shouldve been able to do it on both
leave each harness with the motor it came with

when you drop the b18 in all the sensors will be plugged in already you'll just have to run the 4 plugs down into the fire wall
also hook up the pos. terminal
and connect the plug over by the hood prop
then after running the wires through the firewall hook the 3 plugs up to the computer and the one up to the dash harness

while the ls is out... id take the harness out of the civic and plug everything in because its easiest when out... some stuff wont be long enough... its possible but you're truely better off just getting the harness that belongs with the motor

yeah if you going to use a stick and a LS then you need to used that wiring hardness...and swap the ECU to the stick one. I mean you can run the auto ECU but you will never make it idle at all

Keep the harness on the LS and drop it in. Take the ECU out of the LS and install that in the civic. Both are OBDII cars so it should plug right up to the dash/shock harnesses.

I think those that are commenting have never done a swap in an EK...The EK harness runs through the passenger side firewall unlike the DC/EG style harnesses that plug in at the shock tower. You need to use your D series harness, and extend wires where needed. Also, look at your IACV to see if it is a three or two wire on your civic engine. Post that info when you get a chance and I can help you with that. The P75 ecu you have from the '98 integra is the obvious choice, and you are right about needing the integra shift linkage and '99 - '00 rear mount. I believe you may also need the driver side mount from the '99 -'00 si that actually bolts to the block, and the mount that bolts to the body on that side. I am sure there are a ton of posts on this topic if you search a bit. Good luck!

Then you must have used magic if you used the B series engine's wiring harness (unless it was a '99 - '00 Si), because that style harness won't work in an EK chassis car. I never said anything about you swapping a DC...I just said you must not have swapped an EK (based on your lackluster knowledge).

LOL you are right. The DC/EG harnesses are 2 piece while the EK's are 1 piece, so it's not as easy as motor/harness swap with motor/harness.

x2

YES. Ignore the other posts about using the LS harness. It WON'T WORK. Use the Civic harness. Both cars are OBD2A which means the ECU plugs are the same. Your Civic harness will clip right into the P75.

B Series IACV's are 2 wire plug. Your Civic is 3 wire. Just Steal the clip from the integra harness and splice into yours. Color match two and disregard the orange. You may have to extend some connections but its all color matching. They should both have the same color combos.

You will need to use the SI rear bracket and SI Engine mount. The one that mounts to the engine by the timing cover(might only be for the B18c1), and the front tranny bracket and A/C bracket from the integra but you must use all the Civic rubber mounts that mount to the chassis. The top tranny mount will bolt onto the teg tranny.

Another thing that is usually missed is the fuel line from fuel filter to fuel rail is different. Look at the the banjo bolts. Totally different design. Just run the LS line.

You will need to use the axles and shift linkage from the teg too. But you probably knew that. Search is your friend BTW. Tons of info.

You use the mount and top bracket from the civic the the smaller bracket you use from a civic si.

That's fine. Just hook all the sensors from the civic harness to the LS motor and just string it back through the fire wall. The IACV is the Idle Air Control Valve. Its on the back side of the intake manifold plenum. Has coolant hoses running through it. Do a quick google images search if that doesn't make sense
