I just bought an '03 GPW AP1 but I can't get the cruise control to work. I pushed the cruise control button and the LED lights up but when I push SET the dash says cruise control for about 1 second and then it turns off and the car starts coasting but the LED on the main switch stays on. Has anyone had any similar problems?

 

Hummmm, not sure. Just so you know (if you don't already), when you press the clutch or brake in the cruise disengages.

 

yea. Sounds like its working electrically, there's probably a very simple mechanical problem. You should try taking a look at both your brake and clutch pedals and make sure they are not turning the cruise control off. They are very sensitive, even a little tap will disengage the cruise control, so if they had a bit of play from vibrations on the road I could be the problem.
