To buy or not to buy... 2000 MR Civic Si?
Hi guys,
It's been a while since I've been in this forum. I currently have a 94 DC2 so I'm always hanging out in that forum now. Anyways, so I came across a 2000 Civic Si Milano Red (my favorite color) for sale locally from the original owner, a female
I'm think I'm going to go for it, but wanted to put it to you guys too.
My first car to the import scene was a 2000 MR Si brand new when I was 17 (I was very fortunate and thankful for it). I instantly fell in love with the car, lowered it, exhaust, intake, did the windsheild banner thing (mind you this was 2000 back when big spoilers were for the brief time cool), then saved up working 30 hrs/week at KFC for a JRSC. Time went on, and at the end of it all, I owned it for about 5.5 years with a benson sleeved 1.74L b16a2 greddy turbo'ed. But I was in my senior year of college and funds were running out in my bank and my debt was increasing so I decided to sell it. To this day I regret it
After college I bought a 99 Si, FBP, that was great and it made me happy. But then it was stolen from me when it was bone stock in SF. I wasn't too hurt though because it was still stock and insurance paid me pretty good. So now it's 2009 and I'm 26 and I have a 94 DC2 which I really like. It's a great car, but everytime a 99-00 Milano Red Si drives by me, I gaze at it as long as I could see it. I still have a picture of my MR Si on my desk as I write this. I don't need the Si, but my I've always loved the MR Si's and would love to be in one again. This one is clean, and it's from a really nice girl who garaged it it's whole life. The only negative is it's got some pretty decent size rock chips on the hood. But I figure I can pick up a hood sometime later or keep it on there as a theft deterant (lol). I drove it today and it made me realize how much I miss my old 2000 MR Si.
Sorry for the sob story, but do you guys think I should go for it? I can sell the GSR or keep it as a back-up car. I'd definitely have to do some preventative theft measures to it. I have enough money for it, but selling the GSR would help make up for the dent in my savings.
Car:
2000 Civic Si, Milano Red
126,000 miles
Clean title
$6400
Hopefully someone doesn't swoop it up before I even finish typing this.
I dont have many photos, but it's your typical stock EM1. It's even got the red trim around the fender wells and the door. Stock stereo too.

I probably will get the, "go for the EM1" in this forum and "Screw the EM1" in the integra forum. But lets see...
Thanks for any input guys. I plan on giving her a decision tonight/tmrw morning.

Its funny, back when they came out, nobody wanted the milano red, everybody wanted EBP or FBP. Now it seems like Red has come around in the import world
I've always loved the Milano Red the best. I think it's the most beautiful red, better than the s2000's red (not sure what the name of that color is).
Thanks for the motivation. I think I'm gunna make an offer
I think the asking price if pretty fair. I paid $8k for my last used one in worse shape, but less miles.
Rust doesn't develope under the plastic protective trim on the doors and fender wells does it? Even the black trim on the door's were still black (the window sills).

I realized how much I miss the red even more once I had the black one.
Thanks for your help. I'll keep you guys updated. I can't wait to get off work...! This comes just in time too since Cali tax is going up April 1st.

looks good and clean. I'd ask 6K and work from there, mileage is a bit high. If he complains ask him if he's done timing belt etc and say that's a 700$ job, then he'll feel bad and lower it a little, lol.
Ok so I'm picking it up for $6100
Not too bad in my opinon. I'm back to an EM1 for the 3rd time. Hopefully this one stays in my posession.
Thanks honda-tech.

not a fan of the 00 Si's but damn if i had to i would definately get this, and good work with the find.thats a real bargain for that kind of car.
Yeah the car was used as a commuter car. I checked the Carfax and everything checked out, so I'm scheduled to pick up the car on wednesday
I'm not too worried about the miles though. Nothing that a b18c5 can't cure.
Thanks again guys. I'll be hanging out in this forum again.

Sweet ride! I've always been a fan of the 99'-00' body styles. Definitely worth the money cause clean *** EM1s are getting harder and harder to come by! Especially Milano Red ones. Buy it, drop it, put some nice wheels on it and drive it as it is! Definite CLASSIC!
I loooovvveeee Milano Red. I have a '98 EX coupe and used to own a '97 EX coupe, both Milano Red.
Judging by how you talk about your old car and this car, I think you should buy it. You're just going to continue on thinking about your old car and how you miss it. Then you'll remember this car, the chance you had to own another one, that you passed up and kick yourself.
