Engine cuts out at high rpms?
hey I just got my first integra back in november and i had a quick question. Its a 1990 with a b18a1. As of now all i have as far as upgrades are: Dc headers, AEM CAI, Exhaust, and some other things. When i First got the car it also had match ported fuel injection insted of the stock programmed fuel injection, hks twin power ignition with msd distributor, aem adjustable cam gears, adjustable fuel flow, and more i canno remember. The previous owneer says that the engine is also upgraded and it has high performance pistons, but since the owner before him put everything in he doesnt know exactly what is in there.
So heres the problem: whenever im taking my car past 6k before shifting my engine just studders and wont climb any higher. Of course i dont keep my foot on the gas when it does this because im not sure if something is wrong. I dont know if there is a rev limiter or something like that or if its something else. Any information that could help me solve this problem would be very helpful, thank you.

When was your last tune up? maybe a wire or plug is bad. Also see if your msd or ignition products are not limiting it. Does it make like a redline noise or does it just kick back?
well i forgot to say that all the items i said were in the car when i first got it are now taken out because i got tickets for them. So the spark plug wires and my whole ignition system was replaced just about a month ago. to vampire: it just kicks back, and to 1334, i never push my engine that hard if it is not warmed up, so it happens every time.
I was having the same Problem but i have a 95 GS-R it was the wires on top of the injectors one wasnt on right. that fixed it some what but now mine wont redlind at all it hits 7500 rpms and does that same thing. Let me know what you get.
If the guy had all of those mods in place. Have you checked your ECU? maybe its the stock ECU rev limiting to 6k sounds like an LS ECU. Make sure you do have the right one. Do some research for the year of your teg.
If you have a 90 you have to use that very same year..If you have a 90 you have to use that very same year..90's are OBDO...where as 91 is OBD1. I think that's why some peeps prefer 91 and up instead of 90 for its limitations.

i'm pretty sure its your coil in your distributor. because i had the same problem before. it just cuts off, took me a long *** time to figure out the problem myself. try it out let me know or just replace ur distributor if you have life time warranty on it!

Go to a friend that has the same car and test out his ecu. If it works then you know you got to get one. Make sure you find the right one, like auto or manual.
Its actually really simple, just go down the passenger foot area, open up the panels by the floor mat find the control unit(a silver/goldish style box) , pull out the plugs, and add in the new one. hope that helps
You should check your distributor and timing. Make sure the cam is set right. Stock is to mark, tdc.
Check for any vaccum leaks. It can also be a throttle body problem, like maybe the map sensor or idle control valve on the throttle. Have you checked those?
