Type S odometer failure....
Interesting thing happened to my wife's Type S the last Tuesday. She was on her way to work. She then calls me and tells me that the tach and speedo both stopped working. Then, the odometer went from 12799 miles to 000000miles to 118025 miles!!! Weird stuff. We took it to Acura and they had never seen this before. They temporarily fix the tach and speedo, but the odometer still doesn't work. Of course this means that we will never know the true mileage of the car now. We got the odometer replaced last Friday. The odometer now says 000000miles again and works for now. Unfortunately the true mileage will never be known, thus the value of the car is shot. The dealership only offered us $14000 because of the failure of the odometer. We are now trying to deal with Acura to get them to buy the car back because of the loss in value.
I thought Hondas were reliable!
I will let you know what happens...

wow, $14000!!! IMO keep the money and sell you car for $15,000, I am sure someone will buy it. If I had that much money I'd buy it from you.
Hint: ebay sells anything
good luck with your decision.

Damn that sucks....the whole value of the car down the drain. If they dont buy it back I guess you gotta run it into the ground and get your money's worth.

True this isn't a lemon law issue. But we are now going to sue Acura for the loss in value of the car due to the failure of the odometer. If the car were working correctly, we could trade this car in and get roughly 18,500-19000. Since we can only get around 14,000 we are going to sue them for roughly 5000. We are doing this because my wife has a five year loan on the car. She still owes about 18500 on the car. It isn't any fault of hers that the odometer failed. If she tried to sell the car she would have a significant amount of negative equity. It is really too bad because we both love the car. It is a truly great car. She has the comptech exhaust and 17x7.5 SSR Competitions with S-03s on it. I will keep ya updated though.
