Dashpots ???
Hey do u have to have that lil dashpot thing on your throttle body? If so why ?
It's connected to the throttle linkage so its gotta control throttle, but on what and when ? What happens if u take it off and plug that vacuum port up?

Found my answer

interesting, although the link you posted does refer to dashpots in use with carburetors, same purpose for FI vehicles?
also interesting is that they have no use apparently in manual vehicles besides emissions control.

In the article it states that except for emissions purposes, dashpots serve no drivability purpose on a manual drive car.
In brief:
DESCRIPTION
It's function is to slow the closing of the throttle valve when it is suddenly closed during gear shifting or deceleration.
PURPOSE
This helps lower Carbon Monoxide (CO) emissions caused by sudden engine deceleration. Upon sudden deceleration, vacuum is applied to the Dashpot diaphragm and the diaphragm rod prevents the throttle valve from closing too quickly. Vacuum slowly bleeds from the Dashpot diaphragm allowing the throttle valve to close slowly.
I bet people with standard cars are now gonna remove it..
It'll give you better throttle response too.
