Default Thin Film oil on piston

I would like to know if it is normal to have like (paper) thin film of new oil on the top of the piston when th eplugs are remove and u flashlight in there?

I just done a fresh rebuilt of the motor to stock. Its a b18a1 LS.

It has 10 miles on it right now. I didn't really drive it just yet more becoz tags are expired and i need to get it to smog soon. Took me too long to do the swap replacement so my tag got expired.

Car is on timing and everything is working as it should. Only thing i worry is that is it normal for this on new motor because of ring needs to get sealed as we drive more and more? The compression are 180 psi all across when i did the test at wot at 5 miles. I am also using regular 10w 30.

I worry of this because either my cat is old or i am getting a tiny bit of black soot just barely on the ground in the back with very clear water.

Maybe its normal for it being a little richer due to warming up but this is almost at normal temp. When its completely warmed like fan comes on 2 or more times I will never see or smell anything and it seems clean.

So let me know if u know it is normal to have thin film of oil on the top of piston while breaking in a new motor rings etc...

Thanks in advances guys.

Well the water that you are getting in the back of the car out of the exhaust i guess you are asking about that is the cat working correctly the chemical reaction of the cat makes water, that is a good thing. The oil thing that you are talking about i have not rebuilt a motor yet so i don't know much about it but i was under the impression that rings seat pretty much the first time you drive the car, first 15 minutes or so. Something like that but your compression across all cylinders are good so that is a good thing. Someone else needs to shed some light on the oil part of your dilemma, try doing a search and see what you come up with. Good luck.

Yea thanks for replying. I been searching day and night really because i need to get it smog asap.

This morning i got up and start the car and let it idle til fan comes on twice.
Everything idle down as it should to 750-850rpm stable and no moving up and down at all.

I notice the back exhaust on the ground on cardboard box paper i see very very light black soot with very watery water as i do believe the water is as u stated a good thing and the black is from the car being cold and more fuel is probably feeding it etc. Also on 1991 obd0 1 wire o2 sensor suck as they dont do much until 500-600 degree or something.

On the termostat when u look under it it reads 170 degree. OEM arwe 195 degree correct? I had all of them but i decided to use the 170 degree.

Maybe that is causing the barely rich too as it is warming up who knows.
But helms says termostat start opening up around 170 and at 195 or so its fully open. But i should have no problem after i fully driven the car more then 5-10 miles, because then when i sit and idle there is no smoke or black period in the exhaust at all good thing i guess.

Like my other posting What concerns me is my distributor timing.
I jump connector time the timing while maxed out (advanced) and it only reads 15-16 degree. IS this normal? On my old motor i can advance to 19 degree fine. Still like to know if this has anything to do with new motor.

And again car runs like its new idle perfectly.

Only things are during warmup it stinks rich then normal. if i stand around til fan comes on my shirt will smell already.
and oil film on top of piston everytime i check it. Basically looking down into the hole u see thin film of glossiness.
