Default Oil pan removal, WTH ?

I pulled about 60 million bolts from the pan, pulled the 2 lower bolts off the tranny that go into the pan, and the 2 bolts that hold the lower a/c compressor bracket on.

The pan is completely stuck on there..tried to pry it off..and it won't budge..I'm positive I got all the bolts off...suggestions?

Probably has some of that liquid gasket stuff on there. You could try to take a razor blade around the edge between the pan and block to separate it or a small flat head screwdriver and lightly pry on it but only if you are 100% sure you got all the bolts. Hope this helps.

Honda Bond is a PITA. There is an area for you to stick a prybar or a screwdriver in. Mine was stuck pretty well too. Keep working at it, you'll eventually get it.

Honda Bond!!! Use a flat head screw driver and work your way around it. And do make sure you got every bolt.

When you reinstall it, don't forget to add the Honda Bond. You buy it at Honda.

Yea, it's got Honda bond around it..I can see it coming out the sides. Never been removed.

I use HB on everything, it's amazing stuff. Even used it on my buddies 65 Fastback stang..lol.

I'll keep working it over. I didn't want to pry to much, until I was sure there wasn't a trick or something I'm missed.

There is an area on the passenger side of the pan where you take a large standard screw driver to "pry" the pan off the block. Remember to get the two bolts to the transmission housing...the pan is "sleeved", so do not try to move sideways. up and down only. Rafter removal, run a razor blade along the surfaces to ensure most of the Honda Bond is off, then take some solvent to remove the film left from the first application.

Good luck.

Will do thanks.

Still unsure if I am going to tap the block, or the front of the pan for the return.

You unbolted the compressor from the AC bracket right? Sorry was unclear in your first post. There are 3 bolts that hold the bracket to the pan, one is next to impossible to remove. Leave the bracket bolted to the pan and remove the compressor from the bracket.

Other then that be extra sure you removed all the bolts and pry away.

Yes Sir.

I remember on my b16, there was some HB on it, and it "stuck" there after the bolts were out, but this thing I swear feels like it's still bolted on. I know I have gotten them all. It seems like it wants to come off, but won't budge..if that makes since.

I plan to start round 2 tomorrow night. Sunday night it was getting late and I wasn't about to start prying on it w/o giving it a second fresh look. Make sure I didn't in fact miss anything..and then I'll break it free.

The dowel pins in the oil pan must be getting the best of you. That sucks you are still having troubles with it.

Did you also move that little rubber bumper that keeps the oil pan from hitting the subframe? I had to unbolt it and slide it a little out of the way.

I'm doing my clutch now and noticed there's two tranny bolts that go into the pan, did you get those? just throwing out ideas. also on the passenger side I saw the factory pry point, there's two tabs that stick out of the block and pan for a big screwdriver or pry bar.

Thanks, I got it tonight.

It was just the freakin HB that it stuck on there.. I got a pretty big screwdriver ie. my prybar and placed it between the pry section on the passenger side and it finally let loose. Then worked it around gently and once the seal broke, it dropped off in my hands...

Crazy, it had such a good seal..lol.
