88-89 axle question
I have an 89 EF std hatch. My axles are going bad and I want to know if the STD's axles are different spline wise or can I use any sohc ef axle?
Thanks dudes...and dudette's

sorry to hijack thread....But this is great news. I have the same issue, 89 std, bad cv's and I have extra 90 Si axles..
so it sounds like I'm good to go too...?
I had done some searching around and thought the Si's were different. I don't know much about any of this yet but thought it had to do with the different transmissions (4 speed in the std vs. 5 speed in Si).
thanks sleeping civ

the Civic STD hatch and CRX HF both use different axles from the rest of the models due to having smaller hubs - all 88-91 Civic STD and CRX HF axles are the same - all 88-91 Civic DX, Si, LX, EX and CRX DX, Si axles are the same - if you have a STD, you need 88-91 Civic STD or 88-91 CRX HF axles

I can confirm that this is the case. The STD and HF axles are different from the si,dx and others. The op's scenario will not work, unless he happens to pick up other std or hf axles.
