Found out my issue was the shift linkage. They failed to mention the shift linkage came out of an EG. I heard there was a way to cut and weld the EG shift linkage to make it work. Its on a b16a

I have a shift linkage out of a 97 d16y8..would that work?

if you have a b-series motor then u need the b series shiftlinkage!

 

The only thing is the motor was in an EG before and it had no problems so shouldnt it work fine in my ej8? It mounted up perfect and i can get 3rd and 4th gear i just cant get 1st or 2nd.

can you move the shifter left to right?

 

sure can. Just seems like it wont go into 1st or second. Shifted fine in the EG

 

can you do it when the car is off, put it in 1 or 2?

clutch works fine? bad slave or master can cause it not to go into gear.

 

See thats the thing. Its damn near impossible to tell which gear is which. I believe i have it in first cause it feels the same way it did when it was in the EG. First gear had alot of play and almost felt like neutral.

 

did you remove the shifter from the linkage when you pulled the swap?
