Default Honda Quick Lockdown's*unstealable*

OK,

Everyone needs to know how to keep there car from getting stolen, But most of the time they never work. Sooooo i want to see what idea's you guys have. And i will share my best methods, in the hopes we can stop damn thieves once and for all!

1. Change Locks. (almost all thieves use keys these days, so change them locks to none standered keys, I.E Lockbox keys)

2. Get rid of locks. (use the handle off a 4 door model of your car, if they offer one, and get rid of those locks. Use of pop locks in the best and easyiest way for this to work)

3. Injector Relay Plug/Resistor box, (removing this plug/box will disable the injectors so no gas will shoot into the motor, thus killing the car.)

4 . Take ECU, (you can't start what has no power, taking of the ecu will kill all power going to the engine.)

5. Kill switch,( a switch hidden under the seat or another place in the car with easy access
can stop the starter in its place and keep the motor from cranking.)

6 . Alarm, ( most thieves will just walk away if they see an alarm. And better yet make it seem like you have a viper alarm and use a Bright Blue Led Bulb instead of the little red one that most come with, and also adding a hood and door sensor will keep them from getting in the car in the first place.)

7 .Clutch Club, (this is a $50 known to stop um tool which is placed on the clutch pedal and disable the ability to shift and start the car.)

8. garage kept, (you can't steal what you can't get to.)

9. GPS, (Tracking of the Car if its stolen could save it)

10. E-Brake Lock. (This is something you can make yourself, by drilling two holes right behinde the e-brake line T. Tap them, then put two bolts that are small enough that they fit under the plastic center cover, and they can't move the car if the e-brake won't go down.)

If you have anything to add, please post and let others know. And if you have your own personal touch feel free to add it, even if its the same as some listed. Sometimes other ways to the same tree bear more fruit!

Good write up and I wanted to let you know my Viper has a red led but it is a little older model. Also if you relocated your hood pin sensor to the middle of the hood near the windshield but just far enough away so pliers can reach...easy.

Also, setting additional power and back ups to your alarm are neat but time consuming.

Yes you would need to remove the bolts every time you'd wish to drive, but this is your car
and its worth a lot, especially to thieves who want to steal it.

And i wish to add another one, There are lug nuts that i've seen which use a real Key in order to take off a free spinning protector so you can't use a tire iron.

Never knew they had that many clips though.

1) They'll break a window.

2) Refer to #1

3) Not bad, but they've already memorized the wire diagram & know the common spots

4) Any smart theif will carry an ecu with 3-4 'basemaps' to deal with injector sizes

5) Hot-wiring the starter in the eninge bay is easy

6) Most alarm installs are laughably simple, and can be disabled in seconds

7) Laughable, they'll almost always have a hacksaw or battery sawzall

8) Theives have been known to CUT THROUGH WALLS. 1/4" steel plate siding can get pricey

9) About the only good thing, assuming you have decent battery backup & they don't go underground (literally)

10) Only a few Hondas aren't powerful enough to overwhelm the e-brake.

Adding all of those might help, but you forgot the biggest peice of advice: don't make yourself a target. Don't have stickers plastering your car, expensive Volk's don't help, carbon-fiber anything, full-aluminum rear suspension sticks out, etc. Just don't get cocking thinking your car is unstealable. A good theif will 'case' the car, and know exactly what to hit.

FYI wheel locks/boots can be bought on eBay. Generally the steel is of a very high grade & hardened, which can ruin saw blades in seconds. Alarms with interior ear-bleed sirens, a prox & glassbreak sensor, battery backup, & 2-way features will generally help out greatly.

I have no idea what this means... What doesn't work???

LOL... A sensor will not stop someone from entering your vehicle.

#7 is laughable... Very easily defeated.

#8 is a joke, too... Even my 4cyl accord can drag the rear wheels with the e-brake on...

More that I'll address later...

Everyone keeps telling me to get a removable steering wheel. I usually just unplug the ignition coil on my Mustang.

if someone is able to break into your house, well your at home, then its a much bigger deal then just a car. and most thieves are not going to stay around well an alarm is blasting.

THINK OF IT FROM A THEIVES POINT OF VIEW, THEY ARE NOT TRY TO GET COUGHT

so they are not going to stick around long enough to get cought

Alarm's 90% of the time will save your car.

there are glass shatter sensors. and there's just sensors that go off when you sneeze next to the car.

they are ways to stop um, BUT YOU HAVE TO TRY.

Bottom line, do what you can and theives are just kids who never grew up, just grew smarter and take what they can't have.

1. A quality high end two way pager alarm system installed the correct way, meaning tucking the alarm wire in the engine bay rather then in the fender wall.

2. Remember smart theive's bring ecu's. So what you do is cut about four inchs off your ecu harness an make a quick connect harness out of it. Theive bring's ecu an has no way of plugging it in.

3. Clutch lock

4. The lock trick. pull the bottom cover's off of your steering column rod. Buy a master lock an put it under the second knuckle of that rod. This locks the steering wheel in place after they break the factory lock. So there for your car isnt going anywhere unless it is towed.

5. if you have power door locks cut the wire to them an run them to a switch under the car. Put the switch in a metal box with a small master lock on it. That way there is no way of them getting in the car. Im hearing more an more about them jimmying the window rather then messing around with the door handle.

6. removable steering wheel. It will help to a certain point untill a highly experienced theive uses vise grips to take the car.

7. fuel pump cut off switch

8. Ignition kill switch

9. Distributor kill switch

10. Main relay kill switch

11. headlight kill switch/ this is a funny one because all most all car's get stolen at night so how is the theive going to see the road without headlights? Most likly they will get pulled over an guess what your car can be given back to you.

12. If you have a hydro tranny make a valve shut off so you cant have fluid going to the trans. The tranny will most likly blow up before it gets to where the theive wants to take the car.

13. hub locks/ how is the theive going to pull the engine if he cant get the wheels off of the car? Perfect idea.

14. Park it in the garage

That about raps it up.

LMAO, lovein' the headlight kill switch, never heard of it. All of these are great ideas but I still like the one of training a monkey to guard your stuff with a tire iron. I know we are trying to be serious but it would be friggin' sweet.

So how about a DIY on some of these suggestions? I would love to know how to wire my headlights to a kill switch!

Oh yeah and I found this today just curious about some things....http://www.watchyourcar.org/content/?/protect/devices.

One that was very interesting was the metal collar that goes around the steering column shroud and ignition and locks in place with a key. I realize that a theif may be able to cut this off but I want to know if anyone has used one.

Im sure some of you guys know about people picking the autolock. But when you really think about it's much easier said than done. If you turn the key slot pointed to the gear shifter its much harder to pick something you cant even reach or see.

I have an auto lock and another lock that requires a key in the shape of an X. One on the clutch and one on the brake.

Buy a ravelco

I don't believe in alarms that require batteries. With the battery cut the alarm will only work so long before the internal battery on the alarm dies.

Good post. Think about it like a thrift they want to be in and out asap.

The people who i know that get their **** jacked aren't the brightest people.

Modified civic with no alarms or and type of locks. Jacked in front of his house.

Just tint your windows or cover them up along with relocating your hood(Great so the cops can't pop your hood) and trunk release button

The whole thing of your car getting stolen by a tow truck is only 1%

Then the battery is re-attached, and the alarm continues its thing. By this time you should be paged that "SOMETHING IS HAPPENING" and people around will notice a siren has been blasting for the last ten minutes with a bunch of nice men under the hood.
