Default painting yellow 2000 ITR to white

i have a beautiful yellow 2000 Integra Type R. but it is my car afterall and i have always thought it would look much better white, i think white Type Rs are much more attractive and frankly i cant wait to get the paint job.

Anyways i heard it will depreciate the value u somewhat, but ill still be able to sell it for 10 grand one day if i ever sell it. so i dont really mind, i plan on having her a loooong time. I also plan on getting the JDM type r white rims with the Honda logo.

But anyways i know they dont just go over it with white paint, they use a primer first right? Im just wondering if it can be done good over the stock paint. thanks

Do it right the first time. Sand it down to bare metal.

I wouldn't sand down past the factory primer.

Why not just sell your car and buy a CW one? IMO, nothing is better than factory paint.

there are advantages and disadvantages of sanding down to bare metal and just painting over the original color...but if i was u..i would just primer it up as is without sanding anything off, and then paint it champ-white then, but that's just me...do it however way YOU want too...oh and don't forget to post pix when its done! xD

I wouldn't do it. Especially Yellow. If you're going to do it, do it right. Like inside and out, otherwise that yellow is going to stick out like a sore thumb.

why would you paint it and risk people thinking it was a fake R?

We all know the yellow ones are the only real ones

No wonder so many of the older guys left this place. It won't ever be the same without them.

You're really not that bright...
You have said that you don't have a garage, park the car outside, then put pictures up of the car, where you keep it, and the tag???? If anyone is looking, and this web site harbors plenty of crooks don't be surprised if your car is missing soon.

So are you going to paint just the outside or get the whole thing done? Interior, behind the fenders, under the hood engine bay and ect... IMO, I think it would be a huge waste of money. A decent paint job will run no less then $1500, and thats really pushing it.

It'll most definitely drop in value if/when you repaint it. If i were to repaint ANY car a different color, I personally would disassemble every last bolt, remove all trim, glass etc. Don't fudge-up such a nice car.

I'd do like 'dancivic(96)'

There's no reason to sand down to bare metal if it's not needed.
