Default 88-91 Innovative Mounts issue.?? help.

hey guys,

emailed Innovative mounts directly but no reply for over a week now; so thought i'd ask you guys.

I have a 90 Civic EF9. Genuine real mccoy EF9.

cable trans + b16a.

now; I have the Innovative Billet mounts for it.

I just went to test fit the mounts, and the side engine mount, and cable tranny mount, dont fit snug.

by snug I mean, the OEM mounts fit tightly against the OEM engine mount brackets; where as the IM billet side mount and trans mount have about half a inch gap.

the rear mount is ok, the bracket fits fairly snug.

now; are these mounts only for the lesser model EF's with B16a conversions?

or do I just put spacers in place to take out the gaps?

Your problem is Innovative Mounts doesn’t make replacement mounts for the EF9. Innovative only offers mounts for the ED here in the states. I would recommend contacting: http://www.nengun.com/mugen/engine-mounts and request 50800-XE9-S0N0.

You could use a spacer, but you should use a washer up against the poly. to keep it from coming out.

I noticed the same issue with Innovative mounts application for the D-Series, a very noticeable gap between the polyurethane and the frame which was solved by tightening the mount bolts until the frame "met" the mount, which isn't probably the best solution.

yeah I figured these where made with USDM EF with B16a swaps in mind,

but yeah, buying new mounts at this stage is not an option, I am located in New Zealand, and since our dollar has turned to crap, everything I want to buy overseas has doubled in price....

bit of a bugger as I did ask innovative before I brought these, and asked if they worked on EF9!

if I run a spacer, will that be safe?

planning on putting the engine in with the mounts, then work out the required spacing and get something machined up;...
