SCCA Sacramento Auto-X August 17-18 @ McClellan
Hi all,
Anyone attending this event? I was at McClellan last weekend for the CSCC auto-x (my first auto-x event ever). Pretty cool meeting a honda-techer in person (alu95). Thanks for offering me an "orientation" ride.
I was running my stock michelins xgt v-crappers (38,000 miles + 1 track event @ Thunderhill) and I was screeching/sliding around every cone. Hopefully it won't be nearly as hot this weekend. Lemme know if any of you are going; not sure if I'm going Sat, Sun, or both days.

I'll be there. 96 Red CX Hatch. I'll have the Honda-Tech.com sticker on my car, give me a hollaaaaa if you see me. I'll need any help. It will be my first time out. I'll be runing my new tires then too "Falken Azenis" weeeee
see you there
see you there
No problemo. Hope the ride was fun/educational.
Should be there with brand new front tires this weekend. Corded the left front one sunday.
The stock tires are the worst. Get rid of them as soon as you can.

i might stop by on the 17th. i was there this past sunday checking it out. it was a very hot day. what time are you guys heading out there?
I checked the schedule awhile ago and I'm pretty sure STS is in the morning group Sat, so I'll be there in the morning Sat (prob right at 7:30am). Sunday I'll be in the afternoon group so I'll probably show up at around 11 if I decide to go again.
Reason I'm still running my stock tires is that I blew all my money on a set of larger wheels + tires, but they haven't come in yet

Shingo,
You ordered 17" rims? Uh, oh. This is not good for autoxing/track. You're better off with wider but lighter 15" kosei k1/rota/ssr comps wheels. Plus, the tires will cost you more $$.

Hey Allen (or is it Allan?),
About the wheels; I was just going to stick with my stock gsr wheels and get some juicy rubber but I was caught up with the whole bling bling stunna aspect of things, so I decided to "upgrade" my wheel size to 17" LE-37s. (if you're interested in seeing how they look on a s2k go here: http://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthrea...threadid=76433)
A long long time ago I think it was CivicSiRacer (the auto-xer with the blue si and "autox is 90% driver, 5% car, and 5% crazzy mojo" or something in his sig) who stated that 17"s were actually better for handling. Maybe it wasn't him, but I remember reading a convincing argument for this. Either way, my LEs will be my "street wheelz" and I'll have my stock gsr wheels handy in case I decide to get tires for them and hardco autox every weekend.
They're going on Monday, so this weekend will be my last on the stock Michelins (39,000 miles/1 autox/1 track event) I'll be sliding around cones all day

you HAVE to be a member to run in the SF region. They normally have more then 200 a cars per event. if they allowed non members to run, then you would spend half the day for one run group.
Sac region on the other hand will be lucky to get 100 cars, so EVERYONE is welcome.

Wow, did I set you up beautifully or what. There are so many ways to read that one. Not that there's anything wrong with that...
Sorry, couldn't resist.Anyways, McClellan does seem to be bumpy for some cars. Of course, I don't feel anything in my softly sprung car.

The asphalt is nice: Really even and not much gravel ( unlike cal expo ). Do remember to bring sunblock, umbrella, and lots of water. During one of previous event, we had to work for over 1.5hrs in 100+ due to car sharing...
I was pretty pissed off by the time it was over that i didn't even stay for the fun runs.

I do have to hand it to the Sac region for their super nice sites. You think McClellan in bumpy? I can't be any worse then 3 Com Park. And Cal Expo gravely? Not compared to Golden Gate Field.
If it's one think Sac has done right, its the sites that they get. Or is it the only thing sac has done right? Just kidding, I love running with the sac chapter.
