Im purchasing comptech springs this week and was wondering if I could run them without buying shocks. My cars got 55k on it. Thanx.
just curious...why did you choose the Comptech springs?
anytime you run springs with a higher rate you should upgrade the shocks. if all you care about is looks while parked then keep the stock shocks....but if you drive the car then getting good shocks will make a world of difference.
Bilsteins are a personal favorite for non-adjustables.
If you want adjustable then go Koni Yellow.

As far as I know Comptech springs can be used with stock shocks, although I think they're tuned for koni-yellows. I almost went with Comptech +konis but decided on getting Ground-Controls + koni yellows. I like the idea of having full adjustability but right now I'm having trouble adjusting my perches (frozen-bolts!!!) so I probably would've been better off with Comptech. But yeah, you can use them with your stock shocks, but they won't last very long.

Could be wrong but I think Comptech are rebadged Prokits. From team-integra.net:
Spring Front Lower Rear Lower Front Spring Rate Rear Spring Rate
Comptech Sport 1.25" 1.25" 331 lb/in 126 - 194 lb/in
Eibach Pro-Kit 1.3" 1.3" 331 lb/in 126 - 194 lb/in
Spring rate and drop is identical, I know this relys on the accuracy of the info provided by TI.net but I willing to go out on a limb.
But why go with the Comptechs? From autocarparts.com;
Prokits for 94-00 teg $209.30
Comptechs for 94-01 teg $176.72
Marty.
BTW went with the Prokits

I have H&R sports on my GSR. Stock shocks. The ride is the same as the stock springs.
I wanted to lower my car for looks. So I spent $140. I couldn't afford the $1000 true coilover setup.

WOW!!!! that set up is tight as hell. I also love the whole OE look with ur skirts, rear lips, and fogs. I wanna make my car look like that eventually. As soon as I get $$$. Thanks for the advice. Also the reason Im going with Comptech is A> there a great comapny, and B> I also like the fact that each spring has its own individual spring rate because they cominsate for the driver. I just thought that was pretty cool.

I have talked to the guys at Comptech many times, and their springs are NOT Eibach Prokits, the drop and the rates are VERY close, but not identical. The actual spring coils' specs are different as well(construction and material varies a bit). Comptechs springs are made by a company in Cali, Eibach are made in Germany. By the way I have the Prokits with Koni yellows on my 99GSR, and my buddy has the Comptechs with Koni yellows on his 99GSR, they are VERY similar but not the same. Both lower about 1.3-1.5inches, and the rates are very close as well. Enjoy
Well, given that the Comptech sport springs are about 50% firmer in both the front and rear than the stock springs (Comptech: ~300"/#s front, ~200"/#s rear -- vs. stock: ~210"/#s front, ~115"/#s rear), many would suggest the stock shocks would have a hard time damping these springs, and would wear out much more quickly if you used them with the new springs. I've been running the Comptech springs with Koni yellows for over a year now and have been very pleased. My advice is to upgrade the shocks at the same time. Better safe than sorry.
SupersonicBlueGSR, I got the OE kit(front, side, rear lips) from radley acura for 299+tax.
But, it still needs to be painted. I have a ss blue lip with frost white sides and rear.
