good sounding exhaust with test pipe
im trying to plan out my header back exhaust setup and i was wondering what exhaust will sound good and preform well for a mild n/a gsr set up with a test pipe.... im trying to stay from the classic bumble bee sound that comes with test pipes... videos are also welcome...
1. Don't get a test pipe.
2. Add resonators.
3. Don't buy a coffee can for a muffler.
Resonators are probably the best and easiest way to cut down on sound and change the tone of the exhaust along with the muffler.
Do you want a chambered muffler or straight through?

well a hytech header or any other 2.5 collector and exteneded length header will cause the need for cat removal... so im basicallu have to get rid of it... also i dont care if its chambered as long as its not restrictive also i kinda wanted to stay away from having to buy an exhaust then cut it up... so i was looking for something to just bolt on

A test pipe is illegal btw.
loud is fine as long as it sounds good...
it seems like im going to need an extremely resonated straight through or
a cat back that has a chambered muffler

Get a fujitsubo rm01a catback and hook it up to a test pipe. It sounds very deep and there is no raspiness to it. Go on youttube and search up the exhaust.
I know, I was just letting him know. It costs a lot of money if you get caught with one.
He lives in New York = no emissions testing.
I have a test pipe with a chambered muffler and it sounds awesome, no rasp and flows much better than a setup with a cat. I need a new exhaust because mine is ghetto rigged from the person I bought it from but it sounds decent.

CAI/2.5" Header/Test pipe and Greddy SP2 was and is ABSOLUTELY amazing sounding in my book! I miss it SOOOO much. When the IAB's opened up it was louder then VTEC. But Boost owns Exhaust note imo. I've still got my SP2 laying around if you're interested? It's for a 4 door though. Pm me?
I had a stock gsr header ,test pipe, along with the full catback off a jdm itr on my b20z and it waas amazing, it was superr quite on part throttle and deep and was like a jetfighter on wot!
my friend had a hytech, test pipe and a dc catback I convinced him to use a +06 muffler from a rsx along with a longer resonator, maan all I can say is that the difference and final sound was just incredible, and to top it off there was no loss in performance atleast not on the but dyno, GL!

you're going to throw a code with a test pipe and you will not pass inspection
its called a defouler on your secondary o2 sensor. ran no cat on my 05 type-s for 2 years... no codes, passed inspection every year.
straight pipe is the only way since it doesnt matter how loud it is. Just get a pipe from the end of your test pipe either get it bent to match and OEM exhaust path or stop it before it bends so its a short pipe.
or if you want a name brand get a buddy club spec 2 which is an exhaust with no mufflers or resonators.

once i get everything welded up ill post a video of it on the car and how it sounds
