brakes are very mushy.. HELP!
so i blead the brakes, the pads are ok, and rotors dont need to be turned. i blead every corner, yet my brakes still go to the floor.. bad master cylinder?
I had the same problem and switched out my master cylander for a new one. Then the new one and was fine. Just remember to bench bleed it first otherwise it will feel just as bad and progressively get better over time.
If you are not leaking brake fluid as evidenced by low fluid in the reservoir and you thoroughly bled the system, then replacing the master cylinder should fix the problem.
In case you dont have a haines manual and cant find it in a search what you do is esseintially bleed the master cylinder the same way you would bleed the brakes. Instead of using the bleeders on your calipers you would tighten/loosen the brake lines coming out of the MC
Bolt it on the car and use the pedal to move that master cyl piston, or clamp it in a vise and use a screwdriver to push this piston. It will be setup like this, return the air bubbles to the fluid, as long as it's submerged, its like a check valve and wont allow air back in the system.
Only problem with above is sometimes the angle the master is at won't allow all the air to escape from the bore. That's why I prefer the vise method. Once you get all the air out of there, it should be dripping out the holes where you bolt the lines to. Bolt it up to the booster (after checking pushrod length) and install lines. When you go to bleed it, start at the lines off the master, then proceed to bleed the calipers.
