with the head off the car should i be able to rotate the cam with my hands with the valve springs and everything still on it?

 

its a pretty general question i just dont know how i am sopposed to turn it to get the timing right. because i cant turn it right now with my hands.

 

use a wrench to turn it. when you install, make sure #1 piston is at TDC and #1 valves are closed, this way you wont be bending any valves. then use a wrench on the cam gear to fine tune the cam when lining it up with the crank
