b18a1 wont rev past 4k on pr4
hey guyz, sorry for the non replies from my other thread, i moved and had to wait for the internet..
anyway i finally got the b18 runnin and driving in the hatch, now im having the issue of it not revving past 4k rpms,
but then if i change the ecu to the pm6 it'll rev up to 5k rpms... so idk wtf is goin on
could the timing be off? a bad sensor? im soooooo close, only got 3300rpms to go before its redlining lol
i changed the throttle bodies, (to change the tps) and its not having any effect... i had to do dpfi to mpfi and i swapped around the 2 outer wires on the tps plug itself...
any info is greatly appreciated, thanks

if you have a diffrent dizzy laying around switch them sounds like the dizzy dont go and by a 100 dizzy either...There is parts that wear out in the dizzy...
well if the "dizzy" was bad 9 times out of 10 it wouldnt run... bad rotor = wont run.. bad ignition coil = wont run... i heard somewhere that it could be the ecu? if its fried or not... due to i put the pm6 in it from the zc and it revved to 5k instead... its wierd
yeah, if you've got a friend with the same car or ecu, ask them if you can try their ecu. if it works, then there you go, get a new ecu.
yeah i just did a little project with the same problem and i spent around $250 to try to fix it n i found out that the timing was off by a little but try to see if its your timing b4 you spend ur money.. gud luk

well, my buddy had a workin pr4 that i just bought off of him... but before i bought it, the car decided to stop running?!?!?! im like wtffffffff.. didnt play with any wires, no nothing... so i think hey maybe the dizzy, wires and plugs... change it all.. still nothing..
cyl 4 is firing, and cyl 2 is firing on occassion... wtf could be going wrong here? sprayed ether in and it wont start, cel isnt coming on (it is when i turn the key on for 3 sec for the fuel pump) but no codes no nothing... any ideas!?!?! much appreciated

i also checked the timing earlier, and found out it went back a tooth on the intake cam, so i fixed that... and still nothing... you can hear the fuel pump kick on, im getting spark to all the cylinders,
any chance im not gettin enough fuel cylinders? if thats the case what can i do to fix it... i mean i pulled the fuel line off from the fuel rail and it shot out everywhere lol

i have an ef now and when i bought it it had the same problem so i put a pm6 in mine and it suns perfect now and it redlines at 8. but yea most likely your ecu

I rebuilt the B18 in my old 93 Integra and when I took the head off all of the little valve adjusters (or what ever you call them) fell out and I just put them back in not knowing where they came from, tried to start it after putting the motor back in the car and it wouldn't start, messed with it for a couple days and finally adjusted my valves and it fired right up, so I would say check your valves.

I know this is like 14 years later lol. I've got a 93 integra LS mine won't rev over 4k only under full throttle. Like 90% throttle, no problem ittl go all the way to redline. It started right after I did my oil change and pulled my cluster to clean and regrease my speedo cable cuz it was noise and my speedo needle was a little bouncy. Upon pulling my cluster the speedo cable broke where the metal sleeve slides into the back of the cluster, the cable came out of that. I tried many times getting it back in and crimping it back on but it always fell back out of place. Anyways every since then it won't rev over 4k under full throttle only. You are the first person I've seen say something about the speedo cable related to this issue. I've ordered a new speedo cable but am worried this isn't my issue. But I'm not sure, I've got good fuel pressure(high end of the spec), clean looking injectors, new spark plugs(yes i gapped them to spec), plug wires, fuel filter, new dizzy cap, strong spark, and it feels like it runs strong. Ive checked all of my vacuum lines and made sure my fuel pressure regulator is good. I didn't have codes before now I only have 1 for the vehicle speed sensor. I've checked multiple times since this has happened. Could the speedo cable be causing this?
