Default Speedometer doesn't work.

Please help! My spedo doesn't work. I know it isn't the gauges because when I still something in the gauges to turn where the speedo cable plugs into I see the needle move, so no broken gears or whatever in the gauges. I tried driving and Looking at the cable, and it looks like it doesn't spin. What would cause this?

it may have popped out of the vehicle speed sensor located on the back of the tranny. check the cable and see if its fully seated in place, or if it's loose.
