Do i really need this??? Please help!!!!
okay so i recently did a gsr swap on my 97 ek hatchback and now i ordered my exhaust (buddy club pro) and i have a high flow cat already. this is the last of the things that i need as of right now for my swap but i was wondering did i need anything else before i get my exhaust put on?
now i heard that my exhasut will not bolt directly on because the flanges from my exhaust is different from the flanges on the down pipe of the motor. a friend of mine told me that i would have 2 either get the hi-flow cat cut and welded so that the flanges match, or get a header for a b16 so that it will bolt directly up with no cutting. so my question is, DO I REALLY NEED TO GET THE HEADER FOR THE B16 OR DO I REALLY HAVE 2 CUT AND WELD????? PLEASE HELP!!! THANKS

if im not mistaken i think your gonna have to cut and weld. when i did my b16 swap the flang hole on the downpipe and header didnt line up luckily i had a gsr cat i swap on
Just get it cut and welded, instead of trying to figure out what part will swap in there perfectly. It should be cheaper than a new cat and it will fit better. When did my ls swap i got the correct cat but it ended up being a tiny bit off and touched the body in places and made a horrible rattling... when to the exhaust shop and 20 mins later it was perfect.

I would say 50 bucks max to finish up the exhaust with labor.

dont listen the these idiots. welding just makes it alot harder when u want to change something later or possibly make repairs and it looks tacky. header should bolt up perfectly with the cat. when i did my swap i had a stock cat and stock exhaust and the header lined up exactly where it should have.

I'm not sure what year/trim civics, but some (mine included - 2000 EX coupe) the header flange does not mate up to the cat flange. At all. Not no way, not no how. Period. The bolt holes on the flanges are 90 degrees opposite each other, and the stock exhaust is *just barely* too short to mate up to the GSR header... you can get them together, but you won't really get a good seal on the doughnut.
I took mine to an exhaust shop and had him cut the flange off the front of the cat. He added about 1.5" of length to the front of the cat, then welded the flange back on so that the bolt holes lined up with the bolt holes on the GSR header. To do this, he basically rotated the flange about 90 degrees. That's it. Perfect. It's all still bolted together, and will come apart easily when I need to work with it. No one here is talking about Bubba'ing an exhaust together.
my dx had the cat on the stock header so dc headers bolt up to exhaust but there's no cat. How else do you suppose you fit a cat in there without cutting/welding
