Effects of Performance Radiator Caps?
I want to know how much more effective racing radiator caps are over oem. The difference would be 1.3kg/cm^2 compared to the oem's 1.1kg/cm^2. I know the boiling point would rise and the freezing point would become even lower. But would this translate into a cooler running engine? Would there be a noticeable performance difference? Any help would be appreciated.
It isn't going to do anything for performance and your thermostat still opens at the same temp. It is really your choice but I don't see the need.
the only benefit would be if your system was at its max cooling capacity, it would just be longer before the water boils. it would not "cool" better
Personally, I have a spoon radiator cap on a stock radiator. Runs the same as before BUT the needle gradually goes back to the lowest notch on the temp gauge under full throttle. Don't know how the cap makes it do that. I bought one for my EG and it doesn't do that. Go figure.
it keeps the water from boiling when it is exchanging more heat from racing. (the higher the pressure the more energy it is absorbing before it boils) don't know if i worded that quite rite
but i've had the stock radiator cap on everything... but then again i've never done 25 hot laps in a row at tsukuba.
