Default Acura Integra Dirt Racing

Well, I went to the dirt track last year to watch my dad race his open wheel modified and I saw these 4cyl fwd race cars called "Stingers". My daily driver at the time was an integra and I thought to myself I bet I could work the field with an integra. Well I started searching and I found a totalled 1995 LS (500). I put a cage in it and ran with it. We won a couple races but nothing spectacular. Well now racing is in full swing and I have a gsr for this year I picked up for 400 dollars and I dropped my lsvtec in it and it seems to be the winning ticket at every track. I have raced twice this year and won both events. Here is a video a guy shot with an in car camera I am the #45 acura integra that wins both events. I know its not clean like the HC events but its the next best thing around here (North West Florida).

thats pretty cool. there are many hondas and ecotecs running in the 4 cyl class here at the local circle dirt track, yet the ecotecs seem to be dominating. we were running a 4cyl turbo in the outlaw late modified class and dominated for many years.

The prominent car at the track is a Saturn with the SC22. It does well when they build them but it just can't compete with a properly setup Honda. Last year a Prelude won overall points. This year its going to be an integra. The Saturns have good torque and can be sourced for nothing, they just don't have the HP for the straight aways.

Have the same sort of jazz pretty local to me at the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park. A friend of mine runs his EG hatch. There's a few Integra's running too, but mostly Corsica's, Escorts and Neons.

I second that, what tires? How agressive are the other drivers? Crash up style or gentleman type? You have to wear a HANS?

Yeah...on my friends hatch I'm almost positive that they need to run all seasons. No dirt or winter tires.

are you meaning that need to like as per the rules? dirt track racing is only getting bigger. over here at the local track, which there are only like 3 around, its getting biggere and bigger, kinda getting dumb. we havnt had a dirt track car for about 6 years now or so.

but we did make a trip out there a couple years ago and i started asking the main event winner of the outlaw late mod class some questions and he did not know anything about the car, he said he was the hired driver. turns out, about 75% of the drivers of the outlaw late mod cars were just hired drivers and dont own a car. times are changing.

Yes...I believe the rules for his class call for all season or summer tires. They can be shaved/grooved though to a certain point. Out here...99% of the drivers are the same people who own and build their cars.

Well this past weekend rained out, we ran a single heat race which I won. The rules to this class are posted here: http://www.southernraceway.com/rules..._%20rules.html
It is probabally the most fun I have had in a while. If you go to the above site you can see my car on the front page with my 2 brothers and mother there for the victory shot. The rest of the crew hadn't made it to victory lane when that shot was taken. I run fuzion tires 195-60-14 because of their low cost and proper gearing for the tracks I run. The track is starting to get annoyed with my car dominating, they expect Saturns and cavaliers and other domestic 4 cylinders to have a chance. I tell them there is no way posssible to even compare the two. I foresee after this year they will modify the rules to say no vtec hondas lol. I will take some pictures and post them this week.

I'd wager it's more about your car's handling than VTEC. You'd do fine with a properly geared B20.

Here is a picture from last Friday's win. I have my own in car camera now and will use it on Saturday. If the weather clears I will have some videos from my cars perspective.

I have been running a modified pit crew for a couple of years and this year they added a fwd 4-cylinder class (no vtec allowed, boo). So i bought a car and i am building it. Glad i found this post. Someone send me pics of how they mounted their cage!! I'm having mine put in this weekend.

our class you have to run everything stock. Just put a cage in it and go...but you are allowed to strip it down quite a bit.

Did damage on the sound deadening last night...air hammer ftw
