Default Very Quick Tire Question

Just because I second guess myself a lot... Falken RT-615 (205/50-15) will fit on stock USDM 15" ITR Rims? I remeber NSXtasy telling me this once, but I just wanted to confirm before I buy them... Never changed them since I've had my R,so I'm a Tire Noob. Any help is appreciated!

They wil fit just fine. What I have found with stock rim and a 205 tire is, the steering doesn't feel as crisp as it does with a skinnier tire but you will have no problems fitting it to that rim.

hmm... I guess going from 195 to 205 has a noticable difference then?

i wouldn't worry about it. the improved grip is worth it. the star spec does come in 195, and is one of the best sticky street tires out right now, but i don't think its a whole lot skinnier then a 205.

It is a very noticeable difference. Like mentioned above, I personally would go with a Dunlop star spec Z1 in a 195 on the stock rim if it where me. I here the Dunlops are stickier than Azenis but I haven't used them yet.

With the stickier 205 tire you will be able to muscle around corners

I agree about getting the Z1, nice tire.

I've had both.

Nope. The big difference between tires is between the tire models, and to a somewhat lesser extent the tread depth; the treadwidth is relatively insignificant. The reason the Star Spec feels better is not because it's a 195/55 tire, but because it's a stickier tire.

If you were driving sessions back to back between two of the same model tires with the same tread depth, one in 195/55-15 and the other in 205/50-15, in a blind test so you did not know which was which, you would not be able to tell the difference.

And oh yeah, the 205/50-15 will fit fine on the 15x6 stock wheels. Just like my 205/50-15 track tires do.
