I bought this last October after suffering withdrawal symptoms having sold my 96spec in February last year after 4.5 yrs of ownership (I still regret it!!!) Anyway picked this up and am slowly putting my own touches to it. Its the non ABS/SRS model which took me some time to find as most of the cars i looked at had either both or one of them and i didnt want either. When i bought it, it had a set of 16" Volk TE37 bronze wheels, a Mugen TL exhaust and Mugen Lowdown suspension. The suspension was the first to go, i hated it, let me re-iterate...HATED it, i couldnt find a setting that gave me confidence when driving. The suspension was like brand new so it wasnt as if it were damaged/worn, i just couldnt get a handle on the progressive springs...so it had to go. I bought a set of HKS Hyper Max II coilovers and love them, they have a massive amount of adjustablility (36settings) I can set them full soft on what i call the 'Toyota Camry setting (anyone who has ever driven a 94-99 camry will know what i mean - basically its like a sofa!!) or they can be set rock solid/hard. After a few hours of fiddling about i've found a perfect setting for my style of driving.
Then i took a dislike to the TE37s  I just felt the bronze colour didnt work with a white car. So these were then replaced with a set of Weds Sport TC-005 (Harvey/J5C's old wheels) Got these fitted only this week and i love them, theyre different and no one i know has the same wheels or likely to have them either. I fitted a set of extended Vision blue wheel nuts too to tie in with the blue detailing on the wheels.
The engine is pretty much as it came from the factory. There was a filthy Spoon filter in the airbox which i binned and replaced with a Blitz drop in filter. The OE plug leads were replaced with a set of Ultra wires and the platinum OE plugs were ditched in favour of a set of Denso IK20s. The stock ECU was also ditched in favour of my favourite of favourite ECUs...Spoon! The front pads were down to the metal and were replaced with a set of Axxis Ultimates (another favourite of mine) and i changed the brake fluid and added an MC brace too just to keep everything in the wall/ditch avoidance dept in good order
The interior is mint, there is no wear and i mean NO wear on the steering wheel, carpets, pedal rubbers and with only minimal wear on the drivers bolster (i have a new one to go in as soon as i get some time to do it)
I've also purchased a few gauges to keep and eye on temps and oil pressure and i have an R-Spec controller and RSM to fit purely for aesthetics and oooh factor in the cabin. I also replaced the front and rear OE braces with a spoon front brace and am picking up a cusco rear brace next week.
I plan on leaving the exterior of the car as it is, i done the whole CF thing with the 96spec so that wont be happening again. The engine may get a few more goodies if or when funds allow but for now i'm quite content with the way it is.

I had them on the front and rear of the 96spec and it had the RGs and i never had much of a problem with dust TBH...But IMO good braking performance outweighs clean wheels!!

Changing the wires does nothing, the original wires were still on the car and i had the Ultra wires lying in the garage so i fitted them, plus they look nicer.

Airbags and ABS were optional in Japan on all 96spec and 98spec models, the only model that had them as standard was the Type R-x model in 2000.
