all motor s2k
hi guys, what does it take to get a ap2 S2000 in the 12s all motor. Im being told by a friend that changing the gearing, bolt ons and ecu and your there, but im having a hard time believing it and that a kid he knows ran a 12.7 with bolt ons and drivetrain mods.
i would think it's just about possible with the right tyres, gears, breathing gear (I/H/E) and a solid tune on an EMS or similar - you should get in to the 12's. Don't do it too often though.. Losing a bit of weight out of the car will help too..
realistically speaking all you have to do is shave 6 tenths of a second off of the stock time to hit 12's....i think it's totally doable...I/H/E, test pipe, gears, a good tune, and really sticky tires and i would say you are real close to 12's if not in the mid 12's
6 tenths off one of the best stock s2k times out there. Realistically you'll probably run a 14.1-14.2 on a stock car...especially if its a 00-03 model, so its really more like double that you need to shave off. I've heard of a guy that ran 12s w/ bolt ons, gearing and a little weight reduction, but then again, I never actually saw it.
I think it can be done, clutch, slicks, more power, less weight.
honestly the hardest part will be gaining power all motor. most I/H/E setups only gain 20-30whp so you can't just get into the 12's on power alone. slicks will be the biggest single improvement I think. taking out the spare and the tools are an easy way to drop some weight.
when I get my clutch installed I was thinking about going to the track. I'm 100% stock under the hood at the moment but I'm curious to see how I do with my sticky tires and a clutch that doesn't slip

Basicly i/h/e 70mm is the optimal size piping from header back single throw some 4.77 in the diff and you should be in the high 12's a tune wouldnt hurt either

i guess just to say he did it...
and if he has an all motor car that can runs 12's in a straight line, then hed be able to run that much fast in the twistys... granted he has done suspension work as well...

It would be cheper to make the S2000 go fast in a straight line compared to a mustang. Why does every one have to say some thing like that when some one uses the S2000 for a straight line? Who gives a **** some people like to be able to go fast in a straight line and turn!
With weight reduction, a 4.77 gear and j's racing intake, header and 70mm exhaust the s2k should go 12's no problem. Especially on a good tune with aem ems. How many times before the diff blows up? Not many!
