Is it normal or around avarage for a 94 GSR with 150k to burn 2 qts in between oil changes. and some times 3 if i rag on it in vtec.

yea...pretty soon you'll be needing to rebuild it...but i'd keep an eye on the oil level...and maybe less vtec

Mine burns that much between oil changes, and I only have 76k on mine.

Though, it also leaks as much out from the rear main seal as well.

keep pouring it in till it blows. usually you detonate a piston or burn an exhaust valve

That's only 1 quart every 1500 miles if you're changing your oil regularly. Absolutely not abnormal or excessive for a '94 B18C with 150,000 miles.

Don't even think about a rebuild; that's pointless. Waste of money. Forget it. Checking your oil level every time you fill up with fuel and topping it off as needed is much cheaper.

As long as you keep the sump full of oil, you'll be fine. Just don't let it drop more than a half quart low.

My 94 GSR burns zero oil with 148,xxx miles. It would kind of worry me personally, but if you can live with it then just monitor it and make sure it doesn't get progressively worse.

guides and rings are often the cause. romping on the motor when cold really increases the wear factor. cheap oil and sustained high rpm driving is another great cause.

? its not really cheaper to rebuild before hand. you almost never wreck a block and normally just burn a valve or explode a piston.

like i said i am not sure i am BURNING OIL..... im running a compression check today. i dont think its possible for my car to burn that much oil and NOT smoke at all so something is not right. after driving the car for ten mins. i let it cool for about 30 mins then check it maybe i should have waited longer?

It absolutely is possible, because you're not burning that much oil.

And chances are that it does smoke a bit in VTEC, but you haven't noticed.

well, if you pour in 4qts when you do your oil change, and when you check it at some point later it is lower than the upper dot on your dipstick that means you've lost some oil. whether it is burnt or just leaked out, is the question.
