Default Cruise Control on LS

Whats up everyone, just got a quick question i need some more people to make clear for me. My cruise control is not longer hooked up anymore but is still in my engine bay and I wanna remove it, but the wire from the cruise control module goes into the fire wall then i think has another wire that attaches to the gas pedal. If i disconnect the piece from the back of the firewall and then from the pedal nothing will happen correct? Its just set up for the cruise control? thanks everyone.

Correct. There should be four electrical wires connecting to the CC actuator (= the CC part that is under the hood). Three wires go through the firewall with the harness. The fourth wire grounds near the actuator. Cut 'em or depin; either way, it will not affect anything but CC. The cable to the gas pedal can be disconnected at both the gas pedal and actuator and fully removed. Then take out the actuator.

You can pull out the Cruise Control Module (= the CC's brains, a.k.a. "Cruise Control Unit") in the driver's footwell, if you want, too. Unplug its harness and unbolt it.

Correct. Cutting those wires and the cable at the pedal will affect only the cruise control and nothing else. If you have doubts, just unplug the electrical connector at the actuator (again, under the hood) and drive the car awhile. You can also disconnect the (mechanically connected) cable at the gas pedal and drive around just fine, too.

I installed OEM cruise control in my 93 Civic DX this past fall and spent a lot of time looking at the 88-91 Civic setup, too.

It is a bit tricky. I recommend:
1. Disconnect the actuator cable at the actuator itself. It should be pretty self-evident how to do this. Disconnecting the cable at the actuator end gives you slack to work with at the pedal end. Note how the cable stop attaches at the actuator. It will be a bit similar at the gas pedal.
2. Go into the footwell with a flashlight. Examine where the cable connects onto the gas pedal.
3. At the gas pedal, you should be able to rotate the cable stop and then push it either inboard or outboard so it slides out of the pedal fitting. Worst case there is a fairly easy to release clip holding the cable stop in place. Note: You should not have to cut the cable. That's a desperate measure.
4. Once the cable stop is slid out of the pedal fitting, pull through the firewall and store, discard, whatever.

This might help a little bit. Look at part #9. You might need to remove the clip, part #15.
