Default Who is running 15" rotas?

I know I have posted this question before, with very few responses. Anyway, I am going to purchase 15x6.5 rota circuits and what is the widest tire I can get on it? I really would like 15x7s in order to put on a possibly wider tire. However, does the extra .5 really matter?

thanks

i recommend 205s... you MIGHT be able to get a 225 on it, but it'll be dangerous and the guy who puts it on will be pissed off

There are quite a few people running 15x6.5's with Falken Azenis... as wide 205 tire. Obviously, a 7" would be better, but there's a considerable price jump to get that extra .5".

I realize this is just opinion, but is the extra cash for another .5 worthit?

I know a lot of folks running 225/45-15 Hoosiers on 6.5 inch wide wheels.

It does anny the tire guys sometimes.

With 205 Azenis, yes. Look into Kosei K1's for lightweight and cheap 15x7s.

discount tire direct has some new wheels, the ATS Comp Lite in 15x7 for $150 a wheel shipped. gunmetal is the only color that appears to be in stock at the moment. they also carry the azenis, so you can save mounting costs, assuming you go with that tire.

i looked around at the various wheel weight resources online, and these wheels are listed at 13 lbs. this might be what i go with for next season to replace my 14s. the ssr competitions are tempting at 9lbs, but not sure my driving skills are good enough to make them worth twice the money.

I am running the Rota Circuit 8's with 205/50/15 RA-1's. I have had really good luck with them. I did bend two wheels. Of course, rolling twice & totaling the car might have contributed to that.

Be careful with published weights. We have weighed some wheels & were 'suprised' to find them just a bit heavier than advertised.

Chad:

I take it you would recommend the 15s, other than the obvious problems. What's the widest street tire you would put on? Also, what's up with that wilwood kit?

Widest tire on the rim and widest tire for optimal grip and fit are two different things...

I guess the issue really is the optimal grip. Obviously there are better setups than a 15x6.5 rota on 205s, but how does this setup fair to say other combinations. I just want a good combination for autocrossing. What would you guys recommend that I go with?

I was looking at lightweight rims and that caught my eye too. Only thing is (i think) it only comes in +35 offset.

what is the suggested offset for an integra application? which direction does the 35 offset move the wheel in relation to ideal?

i get confused when it comes to offsets...

thanks,
phil

i was always under the impression that civic hatch need only 195's for optimal grip. anything larger (for street tire) is just a waste.

Simple rule: If you are running Street tires for autox or track, get the widest rim possible that won't rub.

The smaller the number the more it sticks out.

so a 35 offset wheel will stick out too much?

I think it would rub a bit especially when putting wider than 205 tires on them. The closest i got to +35 offset is +40 (16x7 rota C8), no rubbing but i also had about 2 degress camber all around.

Man, that's so frustrating, I don't trust any wheel weight published online anymore, except for the top notch ones like Volks, in which the weights come from the manufacturer's site and is not measured on a bathroom scale.

I've seen variations from 'around 9-10 lb' to 'around 15 lb' for the same exact wheels by the ppl selling them. I even emailed Rota about their 15x6.5 wheel weights, and the response I got was something like they all weight "about" 12 lbs each. I've seen published weights for the subzeros as low as 9.5 lb! but who knows if it's reliable.

My C8's are well under 12 lbs. I will try to get a accurate weight tomorrow when I go to my friend's shop.

Anyone know the weight of 15" Rotas + Azenis v. 16" Rotas + Azenis? I'm not sure but I think the lighter combination is the 16" combo. What is the general preference for autocrossing?

actual weights taken on shop scale.
C8's 15" X 6.5" = 12.0
Slipstream same size = 11.9

a webpage with a bunch of wheels

How much do the actual tires weigh (16 v. 15 in Azenis)?
