Yes, you need to upgrade your valvesprings just like it says on the skunk2 website.

while you're at it get rid of your header and exhaust and get something better flowing to make more power.

yea, you definetly have to upgrade them because those cams will make power past the gsr stock redline.

also, you dont have to change your header and exhaust. yes, you will get more power, but not necessary. plus, get a tune. tuning will get you alot of power. gl man.

With stage 2 cams you will need to have the car tuned to get the power and the drivability out of the cams. The idle will need to be bumped up and the fuel map will need to be adjusted. As stated before, you will need to upgrade the springs and if you have the $$$ the retainers. Throw in a set of gears and you could see numbers around 180-200 WHP.

The stage 1 cams will be easier for a DD and you will still get number in the area of 180 WHP and you will save money by using you stock valve train parts.

*The number provided are assuming you have a good port job, and tune. As I do not know what you compression you can also get a thiner head gasket.*

I installed these in my friends gsr powerd ek and no you don't need to replace your valve train. He is using the skunk2 intake mani along with the 64mil skunk2tb. He installed a jdm type r ecu(5600 vtec) which got rid of mid rpm bog. This setup was run at the track (road coarse) a few times last year and works great. Without using a larger tb/mani, you may experience a slight bog from takeoff(stated by skunk2). I've seen/heard of these engines bouncing off 9000rpm all day long. Btw, his motor made 180whp before the cams and tb upgrade. We are now upgrading the springs and retainers since he is now going with a turbo setup.

You can run the stock, but the stock, non type r heads, were never meant to see revs above 8500 rpm for an extended period of time. I have seen three cars in my shop who believed they could run the stock parts after I advised them to swap them out and now we are rebuilding the motor.

I run the same cams in my street car along with the skunk2 pro springs and have never had a problem. I run the car out to 9500 rpm all the time when i on the track.

you can run pretty much anything, as long as you get a tune. also pro 2's are for fully built motors. compression needs to be 12:1 and higher to use the cams to its full potential. make sure you research everything bout them before buying.

you can run any cams with stock valve train...but its gonna wear the valve train alot faster and you wont be able to rev high enough to its full power. it bogged because those cams are aggressive so it needed more fuel. the itr ecu has more fuel pressure but if your friend would have gotten a tune his car would have been fine.
