Just curious on California law.


My car is in my backyard. Say its 3AM, I hear noises outside and I spot a thief trying to steal my car. I pull out a pistol, legally purchased and registered to myself, and I shoot him 3 times, but I dont kill him. Once the cops arrive, will I be arrested and locked up??

I dont believe I should be locked up because he was on MY property trying to steal MY stuff.

yea i think its ok, just say he was trying to assault you, and it was self defense

 

yep on your property legit gun totally fine . but i would make sure the thief is dead

 

but honestly i think 3 shots...?? cops might think that you where overdoing it so maybe once in his kneecap should work fine lol

 

if u shoot someone above the waist even if he/she was on your property u'll still get charge. If u shoot below the waist u'll be fine. Got that information off this one site.

I wonder if it makes a difference if they're trying to steal or actually stealing it? If the person is looking into the window or checking the handles and you yell at him and he run's away, then it's done and you call the cops. But if he's in the car trying to pull away or he's rippin out your stereo then he's actaully stealling from you. Also you might get hasseled if you never thought your life was in danger. Not to say you will get charged with anything but I would consider it before you act. IMO.

 

i heard if you shoot them while theyre trying to leave yes you ill be charged because theyre getting out of your property

but if they dont leave then yes you can shoot

California law sucks. This is why we have soo many criminals, such strict gun laws.


So I have to walk outside, say "sir, will you leave my car alone?", and if he doesnt comply shoot him?

 

My suggestion is to hold him at gunpoint and have someone call the police. If you hurt him, He can in turn sue you. Liberal California law sucks.

Load the first round with a blank, then fire at the bastid with no warning and ask them if they are willing to bet thier life on the next shot! If at this point they charge shoot, if they bail or have already ran then smile knowing they probably shat themself or at least has **** running down thier leg and will most likely not be coming back for another attempt.

And if by chance you already have a bleeding thief in your basment well good luck!
