Default Buy Or Not To Buy?

Well first off i would like to say whats up to everyone im new to the site and new to imports for that matter. I found a 87 crx si on craigslist today and i was wanting to know if it would be a good buy or should i wait and try to find a 2nd gen. I would like to do a motor swap but i really strapped on cash right now so that wont be happening for a bit, and when i do swap em out whats the best one to go for? Any other info would be greatly appreciated.Well thanx for your time to read my post.

honestly? if you are low on money and this will be your first import, i'd recommend a 2nd gen. the first gens parts are more expensive and fewer available than that of the 2nd gen. it makes modifying the car a little bit harder. things that are easy on a 2nd gen, won't be so much on a first gen. there are far less knowledgable people for these years than the latter so finding help will more than likely turn up someone who thinks they know what they are doing, when in reality they don't.

i'd say the main things to worry about when finding a project car is:
budget
your goals
planned modifications..

a b16a swap into a 1st gen will cost more than a 2nd gen would.

what would you like to do to the car?

Oh god. That fun never ends. If you can put up with the "people who know Hondas," and like having something a little older and more unique, then you should pick that thing up. But it is going to frustrate you going through all the 2g CRX catalogs and seeing all the bits you can buy for that car that they don't have for your car. However, I think having something a little older, and harder to find parts for, makes it that much cooler when you finally get it all decked out. Pretty much, E-AT_me summed it up right. I'm just adding in my useless 2 cents.
