Default New Tires

Hey members,

So its that time again when i have to open my wallet and fork out money for some new rubbers. it sucks that having a lowered car means terrible inside shoulder wear. anyways i have been thinking about the toyo proxes 4. i work for les schwab in WA so i can get my hands on about any tires for killer price. I have a pretty good knowledge of he tires WE sell but not too sure what else is out there and what everyone else has used. I am currently on the falken ziex and they are ok... they dont handle fast corners as well as i like, they slide. TOYO is a top of the line tire and the proxes 4 is hands down one of the best tires made for all weather performance. anyways shoot me so input or expeiences with the proxes 4 if your running them and what you think.
thanks

Oh ok. Well if you're not 100% decided on the Toyos, I recommend the newer Falkens... I haven't had a problem with them.

Toyos are definitely great tires though and I doubt you will be disappointed.

toyo is the largest tire distributor in the world now. you can just tell the quality of the tire by looking at it compared to others. i will probably run with them since i get them at cost and all labor is free because i can do it off the clock at work for free.

If youre looking for a sticky tire check out the dunlop direzza. They arent all season though but when they get warm theyre glue. Right now i have the KUMHO ECSTA AST and theyre a bit noisy im my opinion but hold their own.

In no way am i trying to be a dick but if you take a look over in the Tire forum of HT there is some knowledgeable people who will give great advice.

Heres my opinion:
Falken Ziex 512: (~420) Good grip, good wear, great price. Highly recommend! These are for the spirited driver that wants a grippy tire, and at a good price. My chick loves them.
BF Goodrich g-Sport T/A KDW: (~300) Awesome tire! It grips hella good and its hard for me to chirp when I have these wrapped on my rims. They are noisy and they are expensive, but hey, you wanted sticky tires!
BF Goodrich g-Sport: (~350) Good tire also. Different from KDW's, but they also grip good. Wear rating isnt that bad either and they arent too loud. KDW's pwn these though.
Falken Ziex 912: (460ish I think) Sidewall is too soft and they raised the wear rating. I dont recommend these. These are just normal tires that grandma will love.

dude if you are dealing with excessive negative camber and you can't afford or already have a camber kit go with the Nitto NeoGens. They are made for lowered sport compacts.

i've never ran them, but i know people who have and no complaints about them. i just bought a set of Falken Ziex 512's

Any high performance tire that is called an All-Season is going to suck, thus the Ziex sucking. I just buy dedicated snow tires and then high performance summer/competition tires for the warmer periods. I've got some Kumho AST's that I was using the Civic till I blew up the transmission, felt okay but still nothing compared to what I use normally during the summer. I used the Ziex you are talking about long ago, and well, they are kind of a let down. Not great in the dry, not useful in the snow.

I have some Kumho XS sitting at a shop I am getting mounted tomorrow for my MR-S. From what I have read, they are comparable to RE-01R's. Getting them mounted on some 15x6.5 Rota Slipstreams, 205/50/15... cost me $417 shipped from Tire Rack. These are fairly aggressive (will make Ziex look like a joke), but I auto-cross in a street tire class.

If you want the best grip you can get for the money, Falken Azenis, Kumho XS (or MX, they might be on clearance), RE-11Rs or RE-01Rs (on clearance at tirerack).
