Post best SWAP need input!

Trying to find a new legal motor to replace a d15b in my 99 civic hatch. Im on a budget so considering b18b or b20. I heard b18b dont pass smog for **** and I am unfamiliar with the b20 build. How difficult would it be to put a b20 in my hatch? I only see the long block for b20 on hmotors so I wonder how much is it gonna be when its finished. Which one would be less trouble and most affordable?

Search, yes you can make a b18b legal.B20 isn't legal at all because it is a light truck motor.

Not sure what state you live in, but Allmotor is right about CA - B20 = not legal. And yes, B18B can be smogged. Make sure you have the right ECU and Cat!
