Which legal are you referring to?
Legal as in, you got a state issued VIN number by going through a simple state inspection?
Or legal as in you had a Licensed Registered Importer (RI) perform the necessary windshield, side and rear glass replacement, brake line replacement, installed the USDM front and rear bumper supports, and installed DOT approved tires?
I only ask because if you consider a state inspection legal, think again. You received a VIN number for an illegal car. There have been three instances in the last 6 months where the EPA has seized imported and VIN’ed Hondas, crushed them, and sent the owner the bills for the towing and crushing, which usually ends up around $9,500-$13,000.
With the new EPA legislation, they have increased their 2009 budget to find and destroy illegally imported vehicles. Just keep that in mind, you never know what government agencies may be reading these message boards…

There was an EPA regulation passed down a couple years back that opened up a large some of money to finding and crushing illegally registered cars.
Damn this makes me want to get one, not register it at all or even try or anything and drive around open header with my dealer tag and give all the Prius driving EPA tree huggers some jdm smoke to choke on.......
I know that statement may seem immature but why is the government always messing with car enthusiasts.......they should do something to help every once in a while like giving money to auto theft task forces......instead of always trying to crush our cars for one reason or another......
